Cute pix, Denise.
I have my Dollar Tree Easter and St Patrick's Day gnomes - all 8 of them, 4 for each holiday. All ready for spring, I guess? LOL! |

March is coming in like a lion here, windy and rainy; hope it leaves like a lamb. |

It’s pretty here at the moment but fierce weather conditions are expected soon . The line at the bottom of the picture is the rolling ocean waves. Happy Friday. Hugs and love Darlene |

We are coming in like a lamb and from the Almanac forecast it will be going out like a lion. |

GRANDMA’S APRON The strings were tied, it was freshly washed, and maybe even pressed. For Grandma, it was everyday to choose one when she dressed. The simple apron that it was, you would never think about; the things she used it for, that made it look worn out. She may have used it to hold some wildflowers that she’d found. Or to hide a crying child’s face when a stranger came around. Imagine all the little tears that were wiped with just that cloth. Or it became a potholder to serve some chicken broth. She probably carried kindling to stoke the kitchen fire. To hold a load of laundry, or to wipe the clothesline wire. When canning all her vegetables, it was used to wipe her brow. You never know, she might have used it to shoo flies from the cow. She might have carried eggs in from the chicken coop outside. Whatever chore she used it for, she did them all with pride. When Grandma went to heaven, God said she now could rest. I’m sure the apron that she chose, was her Sunday best. by Tina Trivett

This was written by a friend of mine. She writes poems and short stories. This was just some of her thoughts.
I have always been fascinated by old farmhouses that stand empty. It's the loneliest scene. My mind envisions the family who first lived there....mother in the kitchen, children playing in the yard, and father as he walks in from the field and places his hat on the rack, just inside the door. I can hear the laughter and sighs, the clacking of the dinner dishes going into the sink, and the slamming sounds of the old screen door, as the little ones run in and out. So how did it happen that this lovely old place sits abandoned?
As the world moves forward at an alarming pace, I find myself asking the same question. How did we get here?
But instead of feeling despair, more and more families are finding a way to go back again. They are finding their way back to dinner around the table and bedtime prayers and wide open spaces to run and play. They are yearning for homespun kitchens with canning jars and a plot for a small garden and a corner for some chickens. They are longing for a breath of fresh air, where they can feel at home. Because there is no feeling so safe as that of home.
My grandmother once said, concerning changing styles and fashions and notions, "Just hold on. Everything old comes back again."

Very nice - I have had some of the same thoughts. I love looking at old farmhouses and thinking about what happened there. |

Yes but I still hope they never bring it back. What torture for women it was. I once saw a very old woman with bound feet. Her younger relatives were on both sides of her helping her walk. |

I am thinking there are very few rural farms left like this photo shows. It is a sad loss to that once vibrant and beloved way of life. |

Yes sadly Winnie. Many have been sold off because the children don't want to farm it. JT and I are looking to retire to a farm someday. I would love to have my animals and garden again. |

I raised my kids in the country then moved to town. While I do miss the country I know with my disabilities there is no way I could do all that work now. I was thinking it was a slow day here on the MJfarm but then I checked my junk file and there were about 30 messages. The internet god doesn't have his priorities right. |
