I'd like to issue a fun challenge for the Wildflowers as a group. After talking with mama hen, Debbie I think we can work together and accomplish it. Here it is:
Let's as a group do our best to earn at least 100 merit badges this year.

We can have fun with it and set mini goals along the way. We can also work together or individually. The only thing I ask is that you post here letting us know when you earn a badge. Let me know any thoughts you have.

Badge Count
Earned:131
Needed:69
Date updated 11/03/24

I love the idea Heather, and I will do by best to start earning badges in the new year. As I only have one badge my very first one that I received when I first joined MJF. It’s my crochet badge. She since I know most of our Wildflowers have many, many more badges than l do I will work individually. But, I know I have many of you to go to if I need help.
Thank you Heather for sharing ch a great idea.

Big Hugs,
Debbie

I have never applied for a badge. I think I will check the list and see what I can qualify for.

I have been trying to figure out how to add more "MJF" time into my days. I let myself get too distracted with life since summer and I have missed my time here with you all - this is a great way to start getting back on track. Thanks for organizing this!

I've see my binder in my bookcase everyday - I'm going to pull it out tonight and find a couple I can get started with. We can easily do 100!

Great challenge Heather and Debbie. I will do my best to get started. I feel very intimidated to begin, but I know if I could just get that first one under my belt it will get easier. I may have to ask for guidance along the way, thank you!

This is a wonderful idea. I will do my best to get some badges done. I had good intentions for this last year but didn't seem to get things done. Too many things grabbing my attention. Hoping to do better this year.

Look what I found on Pinterest, pre own CJ Armstrong a few years back and how she displayed her merit badges.
Then another that shows how to finish them for display.

I am so glad that you all want to join the fun!

That's a great find Debbie. I haven't done anything to display any of my badges. I keep thinking I want them on an apron and just never get to it.

I've done quit a bit this past year to earn at least 7 badges! 100 is a little intimidating for me as I stay so busy here but I'm in, I'll try!

LOVE seeing CJ's picture with her badges! What an accomplishment!!

Yes - I mean that the total for the group is 100. I figured if 10 people earned 10 badges we could reach 100. I would love to have everyone earn 10 and reach over 100 but I know life happens!

I'm terrible at applying for the badges. I also have not done anything with the ones I've earned except put them in a folder.

Alright Heather! I am in. I will try my best! I set a goal of 12 badges last year, but only got 4. I am making the same challenge this year and I will do my best to make it happen! Last month I finished my advanced UFO badge. Now I just need to apply for it. That will be my first one for the year.

My suggestion would be for you to keep an updated tab on the first post of counting down from 100 as each person completes a badge. That way we can always see how many badges we have left to complete.

I'm in! I also got sidetracked by life along about summer time and have felt very disconnected lately. Here's hoping for fresh motivation! I enjoy earning badges and feeling connected!

It's alright if you just do one badge this year, Dianna. This is meant to encourage not stress LOL! I wanted to set a goal that was obtainable not so high it was intimidating - that's why I thought 10 people doing 1 badge a month for 10 months of the year. It doesn't mean only 10 people or that everyone has to do 10 badges. Some of the badges are fairly easy and you might already be doing them in your everyday life (like paint and garden) and some are harder. I bet you'd be surprised how easily you could earn 5 badges. The hard part for me is finding time to look through them and then applying for them. So don't stress - just join the fun by doing whatever you're able to do :) And that goes for everyone!

I went through the badge book today to make my list and I discovered a very easy badge that would be a great starting point for anyone! Under the Make it Easy tab there is a badge titled "relaxation" I'm going to make it my badge to complete for January - both the beginner and intermediate level. Check it out - you might want to join me :)

Heather thats great the relaxation badge, I will do it with you.
Everyday at 4pm, I stop whatever I am doing, whether it’s cleaning house, paying bills or whatever. And take an hour and a half to myself to relax before I start dinner. I may meditate, read, write a letter, but usually I knit or crochet as that is when I feel the most relaxed. Sometimes I will put my earbuds in and listen to my music while I knit.

My second Badge I am working on for fun is Let’s Get Physical . I need to lose a bit of weight and firm up so January 1st I started Chair Yoga, it is so fun, I have an App I use. When we lived in Colorado before our move here I did Yoga and Tai Chi with friends at the Community Center. But, that has been awhile so I am out of shape, we walk but that’s it!

So here we go! Thank you Heather for the kick in my Keister I sure needed it!

The relaxation badge seems like something I should look into as well! I could definitely use some help/inspiration in that department.

Good for you, Debbie, for adding the yoga to your day. I started walking on the treadmill and doing core strengthening exercises and some exercises for balance. :)
