Hello Wildflowers, we are doing well in SC with 95 degree days lately. I am here to remind you how great is our God!! We have two very large and beautiful live oak trees on each side of our new to us cottage. Well last week at 2:30 AM we were woken up by the loudest crash. Our first thought was a car had crashed into our house. It actually was a fork (very large) of one of the oak trees had broke off and sideswiped our house and crashed into the awning at the back door. That’s all the damage there was!!! Turns out the tree was rotting on the inside, so the whole tree was taken down. I am very sad to have lost this beautiful tree that had to be one hundred years old, but thankful for God’s protection. Also seeing how we are at the beginning of hurricane season, this probably saved us from a worse fate later on. That whole tree, if it fell, could have crushed our house. I truly believe in fate and that God is watching over us and protecting us. That tree provided shade for at least four houses, so we are already feeling the heat even more, and I am sure the power bill is fixing to go up, lol.

A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel.

Oh Wanda Sue, thank goodness for minimal damage to your home. Good is good. We just had to remove a beautiful maple tree on our side yard that was starting to lift our driveway, was concerned for the neighbors driveway as well, it also broke an irrigation pipe of ours - it was absolutely perfectly shaped and just so pretty. It was bitter sweet for sure.

Mama Hen, all is well here. 2 of my 3 guys have been working out in the heat, contractor and landscaper. We floated the river yesterday for a few hours to stay cool, everyone else in town had the same idea. We've been hovering around 95/100, only 85 today. So it's been a welcomed relief for the guys. I hope everyone stays cool and safe while embracing our beautiful summer season. I do love summer.

Praise God, Wanda Sue, that you were spared of damage to your home. So sorry about the tree though. Hugs to you. :)

I sent an email to Marilyn yesterday to check and see how she was feeling
She wrote back and said:
So far so good.
My car A/C is out so going to the store is almost torture.
We old. So resting each and every day is essential.
So taking it easy and resting as she needs. I miss her.

Everything is going well here. Just some heat is all. We have crossed over into the 100s a couple of times, but we are staying cool inside.

I am one of the lucky ones. We have been enjoying many beautiful days of mid 70’s and 80’s, perfect summer weather here in the north country. We are supposed to get up to the 90’s next week, it will help the crops and gardens and after our winter that lasted 4365 days, I will take it. So glad your damage was not worse Wanda Sue. I sure feel for you ladies with high temps and humidity, they would keep me inside for sure.

Wanda - I know just how you feel! That happened to us this spring only it was the corner of the house instead of the porch. SO thankful it wasn't worse for both of us!!!!

I am also lucky - we've had some humidity that just won't turn into rain (it keeps going all around us) but our temps have been in the 80's.

I apparently spoke too soon LOL! While the actual temps won't be in the triple digits just yet, we're under a heat advisory for the next few days and in the mid 90's :( I don't know how you ladies do it down in TX and AL where this is normal for months at a time. I feel like I need to move further north LOL!

I don’t like the “big” heat, either!!! Low 80s with a gentle breeze is perfect:).

The heat has hit here. It was 98 for a high yesterday and high humidity. Today is supposed to be cooler, only low 90’s but the humidity is already 80%. I am heading to the garden to pick what needs picking and then spending the rest of the day processing it and sewing. Thank goodness for central air.
