I'm glad to hear your pup is doing alright. We have been through similar teeth extraction issues with our elderly cat, so I know how stressful it can be. Definitely sending healing thoughts and prayers your way!

This is our Sweet Boy Cruiser, last week he was at the vet for an eye infection. Today we had to take him back to the vet for an emergency. Cruisers 3rd eyelid collapsed, we have never seen anything like it of course Dr. Karl has, but in both eyes not just one. So he is a bit baffled! Tomorrow he will got back to the vet for teeth X-rays and skull x- rays. If his blood work comes back alright he will have dental surgery to remove a tooth on the left side where his eye issue is. And he will have his teeth cleaned. Dr. Karl does not believe the bad tooth is causing the eye issue. The skull X-rays will tell him more. So, it is a wait and see. He could have eye surgery to hopefully fix the issue if it can not be fixed he could loose his eye. But, first we need to find out why this happened. We will know more tomorrow afternoon. Poor baby we feel so bad for him. Please keep our Cruiser in your prayers that they can figure it out. Thank you so much Wildflowers .

Hubby’s brothers will be here tomorrow afternoon with our Household goods we left in storage in Colorado, it all has been there 3 years. We appreciate our brothers so much! So we will be so busy and it will be crazy around here.
But, I will check in tomorrow late afternoon and let you know how our Cruiser is.
Have a wonderful evening Wildflowers.

Big Hugs,
Debbie

Oh Debbie, your fur babies have had quite the go since you're move... I do hope they all feel better and that Dr. Karl can patch them up good as new. Poor guy, his eye must hurt so bad. Glad the rest of your home and belongings will arrive as well, there is no place like home. Happy (more) unpacking and settling into your forever home. XO

Poor Cruises has:

What is Horner's syndrome?
Horner's syndrome is a common neurological disorder of the eye and facial muscles. The condition usually occurs suddenly and typically affects one side of the head but can be bilateral (affect both sides of the head) in rare cases.

Horner's syndrome is often classified as idiopathic which means it is without known.

What are the clinical signs of Horner's syndrome?
The most common clinical signs of Horner's syndrome are:

drooping of the upper eyelid on the affected side (ptosis)
the pupil of the eye on the affected will be constricted (miosis)
the eye on the affected side often appears sunken (enophthalmos)
the third eyelid of the affected side may appear red and raised (prolapse of the third eyelid, conjunctival hyperemia)
(Image via Wikimedia Commons / Joel Mills (CC BY-SA 3.0.)

What causes Horner's syndrome?
Horner's syndrome is due to a dysfunction of the sympathetic nerves of the eyes and surrounding facial muscles. This is part of the autonomic nervous system, which helps to control normal functions such as blinking, muscle tone, etc.

There are many reasons for Horner's syndrome. The dysfunction may be caused by damage to the sympathetic pathway as it runs through the neck or chest. This may be due to an injury such as a bite wound or blunt trauma, a tumor, or intervertebral disc disease. Middle or inner ear disease (otitis media or otitis interna) can also cause Horner's syndrome. Other causes for an elevated or protruding third eyelid gland include: tetanus, facial nerve paralysis, facial muscle atrophy, and dehydration. However, Horner's syndrome is often classified as idiopathic, which means it is without known cause.

The onset of Horner's syndrome can be sudden and without warning. In some cases, the dog may have eye symptoms, as well as excessive salivation and/or difficulty eating on the affected side.

So we hope and pray it will get better with time.
He was pretty quiet yesterday after we brought him home from the hospital, not eating and sleeping a lot with some pain. So, we hope he will feel better today. He is getting lots of TLC!

Big Hugs,
Debbie
