This is what April wrote honoring Mr. Frank.

On the main forum she posted her story and her give away. I wanted to share in the Henhouse for those who did not see it and to have this beautiful memory in the history of the Wildflower HenHouse! She made this Beautiful Junk Journal honoring him to give away. Well I was so Blessed to have won it. April left pages for me to add things I wanted. I chose to honor the Veteran Mr. Frank with his Military photos and April’s story.

All the photos are of the Journal April made but the last 4 photos those are the ones I added.
I hope you enjoy April Story and Journal as much as I did!

This morning, my best friend, a 96 year old WWII, Korea and Vietnam veteran, a spritely, fireball of a man, a difficult man at best, but with a heart full of love and turmoil.

My family and I were blessed to have him move across the street from us about 4 years ago. I loved that man from day one. He would go to his favorite fish and chip joint (it had to be halibut) and bring me back a mint or two. His favorite sweatshired read: I'm retired, but work part time as a pain in the butt. He spent Holidays with us, we shared dinners and baked goods with him. We had a key to his house and checked on him every single day and night. He loved to share a "snort" of whiskey with my husband. We took him to dr appts and picked him up from the hospital after he had brain surgery, we helped take care of him every day for almost two years before he moved to assisted living four hours away from us. Once he moved, we would talk on the phone multiple times EVERY single day. His caretakers always new it was me calling. Breaks my heart he didn't have any other calls or visitors. I'd send him happy mail once a week. He had a stack of cards and pictures from us. He was there for me when I lost my dad, no words spoken, we just sat side by side and he's put his arm around me. He called me babe. He was so full of stories and history and love (and onri-ness). He had been married twice, both wives passed. Four children who were distant. He loved his beloved kitty, Lola. He was a stained glass artist and I'm fortunate to have a piece he made and gifted me. It breaks my heart that his children did not see the side of him we did. (Giggle, as I remember when my husband and I had to explain to the police he was of no harm, when he threatened his phone company when he couldn't get his phone to work) I'm grateful to have know such a man and I will always love my Mr. Frank.

Big Hugs,
Debbie

Debbie, you are so incredibly sweet and sentimental and just so special... thank you for honoring him in your junk journal, it's crazy sweet that you would include a man you've never met in your journal pages. Thank you for helping ME to honor him. He was so very special to me, to us. I miss him dearly. XO

That is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen:). What beautiful memories you have of him. He looks like a dear but you can see the twinkle in his eyes of a little bit of mischief :)

Giggle, Debbie, that twinkle - I laugh because you hit that spot on. That twinkle was more the lighter fluid that gets stuck in mid air waiting to hit that flame, you just no know the timing of when it's going to drop or how big the explosion will be. He was our hoot! SO.FULL.OF.IT. xo Thank you all for allowing me to share him with you. You're a group of amazing ladies.
