It’s cozy here! It was snowing last night when I went to bed and it looks like it still is this morning:)

At home. I’m not sure what it’s doing up there, I should look. When it gets light out, I will try and get a picture. It must not have snowed that hard during the night.

Good morning Wildflowers, Happy Saturday! It’s only 12 days til Christmas Day.
I still love Christmas, but I have to say, without children around it’s not as exciting.
This year though, I have decorated more than ever since we moved here.
So I realize now, you just have to make your own excitement AND magic.
It feels so good. That little girl is back <3. Enjoy your day whatever you do.

This reminds me of my cousin, Shelly! It even looks like her :). I’m so glad that your inner little girl is back! It is different when the kids are out of the house, especially when they were little. Those were fun days :) But we can still make new memories. I think we might put our tree up tomorrow. It gives us something to look forward to and then we leave it up through Epiphany in January. It makes me sad when people act like Christmas is over by 5pm on the 25th….it’s just beginning!!!!

That’s right Debbie, we leave ours up through epiphany as well. Sometimes longer.

Oh I love that Wanda Sue and so happy you found the Magic of Christmas finding your inner child again. So happy you had so much fun decorating it fills me with such joy. What I love and miss at the Christmas season is light snow and waking up Christmas morning to it snowing. Gives me such a warm and happy feeling.
Have fun putting up your tree Debbie.
Have a fantastic weekend Wildflowers.

Good morning Wildflowers, I’m dreaming of a white Christmas. I hope those of you that do get snow will share pictures with us wannabe’s. It would be a Christmas miracle if we got snow on the SC coast, LOL.

Enjoy your day!!

Wanda Sue, I love all the things you’ve been sharing but especially love the blessings one!

I want to share a couple of things that John and I do that have added some fun to the season (empty nesters!). We started both last year and really looked forward to doing them again this year. There are advent countdown puzzles. It’s roughly 1,000 piece puzzle divided into 24 little boxes. You pick one box and do that portion for each day. Then on Christmas Eve, the puzzle is finished. It’s so fun to do. The other thing is a homemade countdown…I made 24 envelope pockets with Christmas paper and then made tags to put in the envelopes. John wrote 12 things we could do together, and I wrote 12. We pick one each day. Then I try to remember to take a picture and will put it in a mini-album with the tag and the picture. Hope that makes sense! :)

Here is a picture of the puzzle from Dec 1st! :)

Karen :)

To quote one of my past preschoolers “Not one of those Karens, but a good Karen”! Haha

Wow Karen I love you that! And I love all the things you come up with to spend quality time together having fun. I like the advent calendar of puzzles just so nice. Can not wait to see the finished puzzle.

Haha! Karen, my daughter started one of these this year and didn’t have time to keep up with it so she sent it home with us. I was doing good just doing ONE box a day and not getting ahead of myself. Brad put a day’s worth together and said there were 4 missing pieces! How weird! So I decided to work ahead and see if the missing pieces were in another box by chance. I finished the whole thing yesterday and no, there was still an empty spot. I started picking up the box and inside picture to put it away and there they were, under the picture!!!! Someone thought it would be funny to hide them :). I agree…it was fun…while it lasted!

Karen I love the advent puzzle idea. That sounds like so much fun.

Debbie, hiding a few pieces of the puzzle sounds like something my daddy would do. Our large puzzles would lay around for a week or so while everyone would work on it as they had time. He would laugh so hard when he heard our frustration at missing a piece. He would finally fess up and pull it from his pocket. Nice memory.

I love Snoopy!

My daughter did a puzzle for her children this year into an adventure calendar. I'd never heard of it until she had me helping her to put it together.
The grandchildren are enjoying doing it each day.

When my mom and dad came to visit one time , mom and I were working on one and when we finished there was a piece missing and we hunted all over for it. Later in the evening it showed up in the puzzle. JT had picked one up and stuck in his pocket and when he got home put it in. My mom never let him live it down and even though she is gone my kids still accuse him of doing that when a piece comes up missing. I told him those deeds follow him the rest of his life. My children were quite young when that happened so it has been many years that have gone by. Oh the memories!

So true Debbie. Every time he came around when mom and I were doing a puzzle she kept her eye on him after that!

Your stories remind me of hubby I and the many trips we must make to Roseburg and Eugene Oregon for Medical Appointments for each of us. They make for long days with the couple hours drive each way there and back then appointment times. Coming home we both are a bit tired. So I bought a large print crossword puzzle book and we challenge each other to get the answers first after I read the question. Silly maybe but fun and it keeps us both awake. Large print so I can see while driving any curving mountains roads. And I try to get a different book every now and then so we do not get bored.

Have a Beautiful Tuesday Wildflowers.

Debbie
