Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I miss the Henhouse and chatting with everyone.
I am going to help Shannon out until after the first of the year.
We want to keep our Henhouse active.

Are all of you ready for Christmas? I am, I have been having fun buying new ornaments for our tree. Our decorations are, well we do not know where they are. So, I am making a beach tree with ocean colors and ornaments. It has been fun looking for just the right ones. So, the Fischer Family is starting new traditions in our new home and state. We love Oregon and the Ocean.

So, wildflowers what are some of your family traditions? It will be fun to share.
And just for fun all who share I will put your name in my beach hat and draw one name for a special gift:-) No time limit, no rush.

I hope all of you are well and staying safe.

Hugs to all.

Big Hugs,
Debbie

Our family tradition, Which Mr. Godfrey insists on, is to go out on the day after Thanksgiving, and get a real live tree. Over our 58 years of marriage, some trees came out of pastures, some came from tree lots, some from Lowes or Home Depot. This year we have a Wal-Mart tree. I will buy a perlit FAKE tree before next Christmas! Why? Because every year I get sick. Enough is enough! So I told Mr. Godfrey that, the next tree we have inside the house will be FAKE. He was not happy! But this year he is allergic to the tree too.
When the girls were little, there was a tree farm about five miles away. We would bundle up, and go for our great adventure! After we chose our tree the guys who worked there would cut it down, put it into the netting and load it in the back of the truck. While that was going on, we went inside the tiny house to pay for the tree and get a cup of hot chocolate to warm our insides. Hadlee was remembering recently! So that makes me smile!
When we got home with our tree, the girls insisted on decorating the tree...so for several years...our tree which touched the ceiling, was only decorated as high as a four and seven year old could reach. By the time they were seven and ten, their mom involved them more and after decorating their own home...they had no interest in do overs. So now I decorate!
I have slowly accumulated mostly plastic balls. I think I counted less than ten glass ornaments this year. Kitty cats and puppy dogs, not kids have broken most of the glass balls.

What wonderful heartwarming memories Marilyn, thank you for sharing.
I love that you call hubby Mr. Godfrey so sweet.
We too love a real tree and hope never to get a fake one but, I have learned never say never.

I'm still here...just slow to reply! I'm sorry :)
I still think that there's a chance that we'll get an artificial tree someday, as much as I love a real one. No mess, easier to handle, no need to water, no hunting around for one and not having to pay BIG bucks for a half dried up tree. I would think that an artificial one would end up paying for itself in a couple of years, especially if you can find it on sale.

So....what shall we do to get this group up and rocking and rolling again????

I was thinking a book exchange. I have 4 or 5 wonderful paperback books.
I will take photos and post them and see if any of you would like to Read them. Who ever else has books to share can do the same. If you are unable to post pictures just give us the name of book and author.
How does that sound Wildflowers?

Sounds like a good idea. I have five or six books that I need to read, then I can share them. Of course it may be summer before I finish the one I started last week.
I'm going to seriously look for an artificial tree next fall. After we both had allergies this year, I said never again.

Of course, but meeting him at home will be nicer. No nurses in and out and a more relaxed setting.

Here are two books I have to swap. Love Jennifer Chiaverini she is a fabulous author and the author of An ELM Creek Quilts. I have read every book she has ever written. She writes wonderful historical novels as well.
The next book is also a fabulous book, historical novel by Natasha Lester. My Stocking partner Lynda sent it too me. Quick read an all around good book.
Let me know if you would like to read them. Thank you.

And Marilyn your name was pulled out of my hat for your Christmas memory, a gift coming to you soon.

Have a fabulous week Wildflowers.

Debbie

Debbie, I remember reading the Elm Creek Quilt series...long ago when I was teaching. It seems that after the tree was taken down things cleaned up and put away...I read. I collected the books throughout the year...it was that honeymoon period of time before grand kids came along. We usually got out for Christmas break about three days before Christmas. That left me with almost two weeks to read after the big day. Oh my! But you know when a special book becomes a favorite you must find the next one(s) in the series and read it before you can return to the stack. Thankfully we had a nice book store back then. We all miss it!

Debbie, I just talked to my grand daughter. She says baby Jasper is growing. He is a little squirt, but has gained weight. So his breast milk agrees with him.
This afternoon my son called me. He said he needed to talk to us, but first he had to go by and see Jasper! on Sunday he was holding the baby when we went to their house. So tonight I told Bay that her daddy loves his grandson...and is already wrapped around that baby's little fingers.
It makes my heart happy to be great grandma!

Happy Sunday Wildflowers. Checking in to say hi and see how your weekend is going.
I have been working on my Mardi Gras swap and February ATC, keeps me from being so darn bored.
It is rainy and chilly here today, so a good day to stay in watch old movies and do some hand sewing.
Enjoy the rest of your day all my sweet Wildflowers #128156;
