Wishing all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving! Ours will be simple but we are thankful for our many blessings this year in the midst of the pandemic. I found these fun photos from a book titled, America's Rural Yesterday that I wanted to share.

This first one is from 1928 and check out that jazzy wood burning stove! It reminds me of my Grandma's stove that she had on the farm in Indiana. She moved in there in May 1929 so this stove has a familiar look to me except for all the chrome which I don't think was on hers.

The second photo is a family gathering on Thanksgiving 1942. We have to remember that was the beginning of WWII and American boys were being recruited and sent to either Europe or the Pacific. I was wondering if any of these young men were eventually sent to fight? The table setting reminds me of my early childhood days in the 1950s. Thanksgiving was a very special celebration because a turkey dinner only happened twice, maybe 3 times a year. I remember we all wore our best clothes and mom used the white tablecloth, special plates, and her silver pated silverware. These were things only used for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.

Do either of these photos remind you of your childhood Thanksgiving celebrations?

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Ed and I will be celebrating at home - bowling in our living room on the Wii and eating something simple. Easy clean-up, too. LOL! I want to watch the Cowboys football game, but Ed always roots for the other team, so says he will go to his "ranch" and do some more property clean-up. LOL!
