Thanks everyone! I started the last skein last night. Will work on it more once I get some things done around the house today. I have a lot of puzzles that I received for Christmas and I am going to work on one this weekend. |

You have been busy, Denise! Has anyone else had shortages of flour, sugar or yeast in your area? |

Yes, the grocery here has a shortage of flour. I don't know about sugar and yeast. I grind my own flour and buy yeast and honey in bulk so it isn't an issue for us right now. I know they are also out of baking powder. I have been able to get a couple of things online. Oats and choc. chips, crackers and coffee. So far things are holding out for us but we just have us two. |

Denise, those loaves of bread are beautiful!! I made another loaf of bread for this week as well. Fortunately for me, I have plenty of flour but I am now out of yeast so that will be on my weekly grocery run. I guess lots of people are making their own bread these days because I noticed some empty shelves in the basic ingredient area in the stores I visit. This week, I am going to buy some buttermilk too because I love to make soda bread, biscuits, and pancakes with it. |

We could not find flour, either. Don't know why the run on that. I had to get some Wondra flour, which can be used similarly, but with a bit more added. |

We put on the masks and went to the store for the first time in two weeks. There was sugar but no flour. Good thing I have plenty. I'm not sure why there isn't any either as it seems most people don't bake much anymore. The only tp was dinky rolls that wouldn't last a family a day and the limit was four rolls. I grabbed the very last can of spray disinfectant and used it to spray everything (except the asparagus and bananas) when we got home. Also got some veggie seeds. DH got our little garden area ready last week before the rain. |

I know a lot of places online are out of baking essentials also. I am making sure I make things that can be frozen in extra portions or baked goods that can be frozen separately. Less waste that way. A lot of these shortages come I believe from getting too much of our things imported instead of done in the U.S. the way it used to be. I am doing household cleaning today along with working on another blanket. This one is done in a shell stitch with rows of white, purple and yellow. My daughter saw the other blanket I was making and wants an afghan in that pattern. So I am going to order some yarn and possibly get it done for Christmas. I have another friend who is using this time to make her gifts now.

We had a run on flour and yeast a few weeks ago, but I had bread flour and all purpose flour on my grocery list last week and our grocery store gave me both. I order in 25 lb. bags and the flour I like is milled in North Dakota. If they were still out I was going to order on line and have it shipped. I baked bread yesterday. Friday I am making hot cross buns and maple sticks for my daughter and her family. I will leave them on their doorstep when I deliver the Easter baskets. Yesterday I also managed to get a bunch of woven coasters done, some are for the craft your stash swap on the big forum and the rest I am tucking away for future gifts. Today I am processing a 22 pound turkey. I was tired of constantly moving it around in my freezer so I will debone it, can it and make a huge pot of stock to can as well. |

Julie -
What is the mill you order flour from? If I can't find flour I may do that, too. Thank you. |

Linda it is Dakota Mills. They charge a lot for shipping, but if you can't get it anywhere else it might be worth it. |

This makes me happy that I ordered two 40# buckets of wheat to grind a year or so ago. I also have flour in a bucket. The reason is because I've been using some of Bob's Red Mill Gluten free flour. |

Marilyn, the original flour mill, owned and operated by John Barron, shuttered while he was still alive. In his late 80s, MaryJane met him and together they milled grains . She also secured a state funded rural loan to rehab the historic mill. Today she mills Montana wheat the same way she learned from John Barron. I am guessing this milling is done at her farm these days. She sells here Organic White flour on her website today and I recently have been using it. It makes great bread!! She goes into lots of details in her Wild Bread book which is where I learned that she was offering the White flour and organic rice starch products.
Remember we were talking about no toilet paper on the shelves/// Today I couldn't find any yeast AGAIN!! I will be so disappointed if I can't make hot cross buns for Easter breakfast!!

That bread looks wonderful. There is a shortage of flour here also. It will take a while to catch up. |

I received some of my orders yesterday and the day before. I received choc. chips, coconut, crackers and oats. I make my own granola and this next batch will be without raisins unless they show up quickly. I ordered more choc. chips last night when I ordered the raisins. The first bag I got was $$ and there is only a little over 8 ounces. May have to use them sparingly. We are finding out what it was like when things were being rationed I think. |

Ed went to the grocery store yesterday and they had flour, so he got me a large bag of flour. It was one bag per family.
I have not tried ordering groceries to be delivered yet or for curbside pick up. When I tried to do a curbside pick up order at Walmart, their schedule was filled for four days out.
We have also not ordered fast food to be delivered nor have we gone through drive-Thru. Have any of you ordered fast food? I am missing it a little. |

We have done drive through just a couple of times. I went in and picked up Chinese take out last Sunday. It was nice to have a change of something different. It was all quiet in the restaurant. I really just wanted to sit and have a pot of tea with the young girl who works there! Her family owns the place and we have watched her grow up over the years, such a sweet girl. Is anyone else missing interaction and conversation??? |

The last restaurant food I had was March 14th at Pea Soup Anderson when my daughter and I were on the way home from the cancelled orchid show. We have cooked our own ever since. I feel that the fewer hands on my food the safer it is. It hasn't been too much of a change since we very seldom eat out, pretty much only sushi or Mexican about once a month on the major shopping day. We've always enjoyed cooking together. |

I drove to the barbeque place Tuesday evening. I called our order in, and was told to park in front and call again...they would bring it out. How neat. There were 7 vehicles in line and almost closing time. I was so happy I had called ahead. |
