One of the things that broke my heart that I had to leave 32 years ago when I moved, was my climbing Rose bush! It was 13 years old! all my neighbors took pictures of their kids in front of it. I have one I will have to dig out of Holly and her little cousin. My granny had a Rose garden, She loved the Yellow ones the best. She did dig up some of them and took them to Friendship, Tennessee from Memphis in 1972. They did fine.

It's 65 and sunny here!!! I am about to go outside and weed just a little in my raised bed. I know we have 6 more weeks of Winter but I made Lily June's Bed here at my house ready for Spring! She will be over for Supper tonight, her and Mommy and I want to surprise her! I got this garland at Hobby Lobby for about $8.00, I could not make it for that! Happy February 2nd!

Connie, that is the cutest bed ever for Lily June!!

My Sister, Sylvia, gave my Mom a little rose bush for Mother's Day one year. She used her own money and bought it at a Woolworth's store. Mom planted it in the ground and it became HUGE and gave her roses all summer long. The really cool thing about it was that it ALWAYS had at least one bloom on it for Mother's Day. Mom pinched off springs and shared it with so many people. It was one of those bushes that will form a new plant from a cutting. When Mom and Dad moved from our old house to a small condo in a retirement setting, she dug up that bush and planted it in her front yard. It took right to it's new home and continued to bloom and thrive. When she fell and broke her hip and had to move to an assisted living place, the condo sold. I wonder if the new owners have continued to enjoy the roses from her bush?

Warren took photos with his special lens and now I can introduce you to my CrowFriend. He sure loves his peanuts and likes to crack them at the birdbath so he can get them in the water to soften before eating!!

My backyard friends are so much fun! They really expect peanuts when the come and call for me. I sure hope the grocery stores don't stop stocking them. How would I be able to explain that one to CrowFriend??!! LOL!!

I also decorated my little tree today for Valentines and wanted to share it. Some of my larger ornaments came from Connie who shared a few of her ATCs with me. There are also some gifted vintage Valentine's cards tucked in the branches. I also have a few ornaments made for me and Warren from when the Girls were little, some from my Mom, and a few I made along over the years. I love having this little tree up all year long and decorating it with memories!!

Winnie, your crow is a handsome fellow. I noticed that a couple have been flying in to eat the left overs from the roos.
Your Valentine tree is cute. I'm sure it is filled with memories.
Connie I love Lily June's bed and those sheets are so springy and cute.
Linda, watch the roses, even if the rose dies back it may send up a sport. I've had two roses do that. The sport looks like a very old fashioned rose with only five or six petals. But the color and scent are there!

Winnie tell CrowFriend hi from Texas for me. He is a good looking fellow. Your Valentine tree is beautiful.

It's 55 now with a high of 65 so I am resuming canning dried beans today. Christmas Lima - a large speckled Lima bean.

Pretty sure I know which rose for my garden. A container yellow rose. The arbor is on the back burner for now. I can buy a lot of herbs and hand dyed wool for what the arbor would cost with money left over. This time my common sense won out. Will let you know which one I decide on.

Sara, your arbor reminded me of my arbor dreams.I cleared the spot, ordered three cattle panels and chain link posts, etc. It came and after months, we finally got my rose arbor up. So I ordered roses and planted them. Bay was 5, Had was 2. The roses bloomed that year. I put my relaxing chair, a small table and the turtle sand box out there. Then it was summer again, hot not an inviting place...because the roses were not climbing fast enough. Then I was asked to start the mother's day out, which morphed into a daycare! Next time I saw daylight, at home, my roses and grass had all died. At first I got up very early to water before I went to work, but once the daycare took over, I had to leave home at that very early time and since I did not get home until 7pm or later, my hubby was watering the garden, so I could not use the water for pretty things. So now my husband's Nankin Bantum chickens live in my rose arbor. Of course we had to add ends and tarps over the top. But , hey they are making the soil so rich. And perhaps this time next year I will return the hoop to a rose arbor once more. There is always hope.

Sara,
I'm sure whichever one you choose it will
be beautiful. You will be happy common sense willed out when you get those herbs and that wool.

We will be celebrating 4 birthdays today after services and dinner. Dd is bringing dinner over. My sil, grandson were yesterday, JT today and other grandson on the 16th. The boys gifts are to be used together so we are giving them both the gifts today.
We may be traveling the end of the month so it works out well.

Marilyn one of the things I love about tomorrow there is always another time and season. Good way to think about your arbor - your girls are getting it ready for your climbing roses.

Denise - happy birthday to all your family cerebrating today. Thanks for your kind words about my choice - yes I will enjoy new herbs and wool - maybe I can sneak in a new garden or cookbook too.

I ordered Mrs Oakley Fisher - it dates back to 1921 when a sport of one rose was crossed with another. I will have to remember where I read that and give you more info. Who knew roses had pedigrees.

For you who may consider ordering a rose from the Antique Rose Emporium they are having a 20% off sale on all roses this month - I saved $3.99

The code for the sale is KISS

I have purposed to sit out more this year and enjoy my outside sitting areas. So far today I have sat in white wicker rocker on sideporch (former carport) and in vintage metal lawn chair on back deck twice. Enjoying mid 70s temps. When the weather allows won't y'all join me in sitting outside to enjoy nature and the simple side of life.

Temps up to 83 on my front porch this afternoon. Of course, on Thusday another cold front comes in and at least one report says possible snow on Friday. At least that's what Ed says. LOL! Of course, he will be in Los Angeles area Thurs-Sun, so he will be warm. that means if my cold gets better, it will get worse agaiin with the temp changes. LOL!
