Connie, I have the box you sent me! What a delightful box of goodies. Hazelnut coffee yum! Yum!! Crackerjacks, another yum! Ribbons, Washi that sparkles! Bakers twine,tiny straw hats, flags, cut out trees from quilts, sunflowers, pumpkins and more punkins!!! Halloween foamie stickers. WOW!
And then there is the baggie of milk bottle caps and the special card made by April Tovar.
Connie, I feel so special. Thank you so much! When we got home from town Saturday, the notice was in our mail box, but the PO was closed, so I asked my husband to get it when he was in town. He watched me open it, then he asked if he could look through the milk bottle lids. When he was growing up here, there was a dairy that sold milk and cream to the public. It was still in business when our son was young. The little bottles of cream and the bottles of milk were capped with lids or caps like these. What a wonderful memory! Thanks Connie!

| When I was four we moved to Lubbock because my daddy bought a Helpy Selfy Laundry. We only lived there about nine months. I drank no milk while we were there! I love milk! But right after we moved in I was awakened by tinkling noises early one morning. I peered out the window and there was a cart, pulled by a horse. A man in a uniform got out of the cart and got something from the back of the cart...it was a thing with milk bottles in it. He would leave milk and cream, taking empty bottles from the porch. My mother was upset when I did not drink my milk. After I told her I like cow milk not horse milk, she tried to make me believe it was cows milk, but I had seen the horse, the cart and the milk man! It was horse milk in those bottles...at least to my four year old mind. |
