Denise, I love it! My son would've loved if I had made one of his boys a Star Wars baby quilt. I still have SW fabric in the closet to use one of these days. You have been busy....they will treasure it! |

I thought it would be fun and the pinwheel design was easy. |

So much more fun that the old pink and blue....or, gasp...yellow and green!!! No babies look good in yellow or green...but that is my own opinion.... |

It's funny - we were just talking about yellow on babies here recently. Poor Jenni looks so washed out in yellow!!!!! |

Heading out tomorrow to help this last week before our little fellow makes his appearance. Can't wait to meet him! When I return I have another small quilt project I am working on for my oldest daughter. I am planning to spend this winter working on some quilts for each of my kids and finish up 2 for my two grandsons. They are 11 and 8. I have plenty to keep my hands busy and keep warm while I'm doing it. Just wondering how many of you gals quilt? For those that do, do you prefer using a machine over hand quilting or vice versa? Inquiring minds and all that. |

I quilt! I piece by machine, and then either hand quilt or machine quilt :) |

On Denise the quilt is beautiful, so must love goes into a quilt. I use to quilt and I loved it! Once I learnt to quilt I could not stop, but I have not made one in years. My quilts were all Pure quilts just like in the Little House On the Prairie Days. I have fabric in my craft room to make two more quilts, one for my son and a lap quit for myself, and one day I just might start quilting again. |

He will love his special quilt as he grows older. I think that is a great idea. It is so hard to find nice gifts for boys. |

The only quilt I've ever made is a t-shirt quilt. I want to learn how to quilt. Our local library has a group called "Pieceful Quilters" that meet the last Wednesday of the month. I always want to stop in and see what they're doing but I haven't yet. |

Debbie, I hope you will get to make that quilt for your son!
Erin, You should stop in and see what they are doing. I pretty much taught myself to quilt with a bit of help from my mother in law. She loves to quilt and now does them completely by hand. |

I've only made 1 quilt top that was hand pieced, the rest I've done on the machine. It was a great little project to take along to work on while I was waiting on one of the kids. It was really relaxing. I usually machine quilt but I have done several quilts by hand and I love it! I've been thinking a lot lately about finishing an antique quilt top by hand. I t might have to wait until after the first of the year. There's nothing like having a little quiet time and hand quilting. |

I say hats off to those of you who stitch and make a lot of quilts. When I was young I did a few, hand piecing them. I even embroidered baby quilts for my son and nephew. But then I returned to college and as soon as I graduated began my teaching career. Somehow quilting got lost along the way. Sure I admired the work of others, and I bought some quilts that I used as bed spreads. My mother came to visit one Saturday...and she brought her checkbook. She intended to write me a check so I could go and purchase bed spreads for my beds! She told me that using quilts was a sign of being too poor to afford a spread. That was the way it was back in the day. I told my sweet mother that I had spreads in the closet, but I loved the homey look and feel of quilts. She was not happy but went home. Later when I went to visit her She loaded my car with vintage chinelle spreads. I've used them for craft projects, pillows etc. But not on my beds. |

Marilyn, I had heard a similar story about that...I think people had to make do for so long during the depression they wanted something NEW and new looking...not a pieced quilt. |

I love the story of you and your mother. My mom wanted everything new too. She wasn't too keen on handmade gifts. However, I remember she belonged to a sewing club and made beautiful items. Memories. |
