The first two are of Bath. We got to walk the Same streets as Jane Austen. Went to the Jane Austen Center Museum and had tea there with Mr. Darcy. Actually, it was a large painting of Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. The tea was very good.
We were in Bath 5 days and walked almost all the streets shown on the map. A beautiful city. The next picture is of a back door of a church and is said to be the inspiration for Tolkien to write Lord of the Rings. It is in Stow-on-the-wold, Cotswold, England.
Next is Conway Castle in Conway, Wales. It was the view out of our room window. We were on the top floor. Such a beautiful site.
The last two pictures are the Tower of London. Saw where people were kept in the Tower. It was only 3 stories tall, but was enormous to people of the time and very intimidating to them. The spot where beheadings took place was kind of sad. Especially, the story of Lady Jane Grey who was only 16 and Queen for 9 days then She and her husband were both beheaded because they wouldn't convert to Catholicism.
Also, we saw the Crown Jewels in one of the buildings at The Tower of London. The money they must be worth. Wow!
If any of you want to see more pictures, I will be happy to post them for you. |

Brenda, I am so excited to see these photos of your recent trip!! We were there last September and visited these same places. It is great fun to walk in history's step and learn about life hundreds of years ago. And yes, the Crown Jewels are a sight to be seen!! So glad you have a wonderful trip and thanks for sharing! |

Glad these pictures arevbeing enjoyed. I was gone for the past few days spending more time with my daughter. I feel so fortunate to have her for a best friend. We get along so well.
These pictures were taken in Wales. This sheep farm was beautiful. The people were so friendly and fun. After we saw Garth shear this sheep I was able to purchase the fleece. They said the fleece is worth about 80 pence or about a roller in our money. I gave much more than that for it. They were kind enough to clean the yucky bits out and give it a first washing then sent it me.
Have to take the dog out will post more tomorrow. |

The mountains n of Wales. Wales is actually part of England. Kind of like one of our state's.
The first picture is of the smallest house in England. It's 10 by 6 feet. The next three are of the Bodent Gardens we toured. The one with the ditch is called a Ha Ha. Strange name, but it was done on purpose to keep sheep away from the house. When you look out across the yard from the house you can't really see the ditch.
The picture in the middle his the pet cemetery for the family that lives here.
The next is Hadrians wall. It is close to the border of Scotland and is about 73 miles long. Built by the Romans. Then Wells Cathedral I believe. Near Glastonbury. Glastonbury is still stuck in the late 60's and early 70's. Hippies still live on. Beautiful and very colorful and fun place.
The building with all the holes is a dove cote in Stow-on-the-wold.
