Biscuitsx!xx!! Forget it! Something I've never mastered, except in the restaurant...I reached up in the cabinet and got the five # bag of biscuit mix, poured it on a huge bowl, added the amount of milk or buttermilk it called for, stirred it briefly with a wooden spoon, dumped it out on the floured surface, patted it into a 1" thick blob and cut my biscuits. Once on the cookie sheet they got brushed with real butter, baked and brushed with more luscious butter as they came out of the oven. They were devine. I'm so bad that my hubby buys frozen biscuits in a bag for me to bake. They are good but not as good as restaurant biscuits. |

Debbie, LOL! Now that's a new one to me, Feed it to the Rattlesnakes! I dumped many a recipe in the trash when I was younger!
Marilyn, Our Bologna cups were, fry the bologna in a skillet till they cup up, put on a baking sheet pan spoon homemade mashed potatoes and a big slice of Velveeta cheese on top, then put in the oven at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes, served them with green peas. That's the way the school made them too. The emergency steak sounds good! Growing up we had Sauerkraut and Wieners! I hated them!

Biscuits are something I've always been able to make. My mom used to make baking soda biscuits. They were cheap and easy.
Never heard of bologna cups before now. Don't like bologna. I never did as a kid either. |

Cooked black beans in crockpot yesterday. Thinking about using some of the beans in chili today. Have all the ingredients so it will be easy. |

My crew can't enjoy chili right now, although my husband said both of the other guys had chili in their lunches today. He used to enjoy it. |

Denise, you can use Ham or Turkey instead of Bologna. My friends kids didn't like Bologna. So she used Ham, cause her kids wanted what the others kids ate! Lol Connie |

Connie I could definitely try it with Turkey. Just have to make sure it is sliced a bit thicker I think. |

The only thing cooking in our house today is homemade cookies that I will take to the hospital for the OR staff in the morning. Dave's surgery for his carotid is scheduled for 11:30. WE would appreciate your prayers. Thanks gals, Ruth |

Ruth, I hope all is going well with Dave! I put a big batch of chili in the crockpot this morning. We are fogged in and it seemed like a good cold weather meal. As soon as I get my treadmill finished, I can do something creative with the rest of my day! |

Marilyn, we live on the east side of the Cascade mountains. They are an hour drive from here. We live in what is called the High Desert. It goes all down through central and south eastern Oregon into Nevada. We are a lot colder in the winter and hotter in the summer than the population that live on the west side of the mountain range in the Willamette Valley. We also live right up against a river canyon that is fairly deep. It kind of creates its own weather sometimes. The fog likes to hang over the canyon during the winter. I remember one winter when we had fog for 6 weeks! It got pretty dreary. The funny thing about the fog is that most of the time you can drive up the road towards town, sometimes just a mile, and break through the fog wall and are in bright sunshine! |

That is very interesting Debbie. The temperature of the water is perhaps warmer than The cold air. That is why we have spotty bag field fog. So much fertilizer is put on the fields to make the bay grow during the summer, I guess the fields never really cool off...so in late autumn, winter and early spring we often see fog over a 5 acre area, or a 15 acre area. Thanks for explaining that to me. |

Made some chocolate chip bars. Not sure what else I want to make but it sure helps warm the kitchen up. Thought I'd sit with a hot drink and then get back to it. Putting some chicken soup on for supper. |

Denise for me a busy and warm kitchen is a blessing. I have leftover rotassie chicken breast to do something with - may do a small pan of baked chicken pasta. Annie will get the dark meat to go with her dry food. |

Going to Bobbie's for pizza today. Her DD & SIL are in from MA. Betty and her hubby are picking me up. Our oldest sister & BIL are driving up from the Dallas area. Beth has asked for her Aunt Betty's banana pudding. I'm making a pasta dish. Extra large shells stuffed with spinach w/ Classico vodka & cream sauce. Baked in the oven at 375 for 45 min to an hour. I have discovered I like cream in pasta sauces. Don't know why I couldn't add 1/4 cup or so of heavy cream to any pasta sauce. |

That sounds yummy Sara. Once in Granbury I ordered some ravioli in rose sauce. That was delicious! Cream and some alcohol toned down the strong tomato taste. At the Italian restaurant where Had works, it is not on the menu...but Bay orders something my that is delicious,I don't remember the name, but she always asks the waitress to be sure it has the cream in it. Pasta sauce can be toned down with a teaspoon of so of sugar. Lemon juice does wonders for tomatoes too. Just a bit, it brightens the flavor. |
