I just learned from an email from Marilyn Godfrey that Portia was killed in a car accident. I just saw her family post on her face book wall. I'm in such shock as Marilyn said.

We were swap Partners many times, I have a collection of her beautiful art. She was so kind and such a wonderful prayer partner!

I know she will be terribly missed on MJF!

Pray for her precious family!

She was a super farmgirl. I, too, was her swap partner many times and have a lot of her swap art. Just last month in the Easter mug rug swap. She will be greatly missed.

I am stunned to hear this. She was such lovely lady, she took over hosting the card swap its year. This is just devastating.

Happy Day!

Just an idea - - -
Would anyone like to go together and send a plant or flowers to Portia's family from our Henhouse? I would be happy to collect money and send a plant or flowers through FTD. I was thinking a potted plant would be longer lasting than cut flowers. Someone who is great with words can write something for the card and then we can sign it from the henhouse with the names of those contributing. I thought this would be comforting for her family to hear from MJF friends. What do you think?

Linda it might be better to donate to the memorial fund at their church. If he and the kids leave for Ecuador this summer as planned.

That's true. We can do that instead if people want to do that. Good suggestion.

I'd like to contribute, whatever you decide to do. Portia was so encouraging to me about card making and exploring art in general. She was so kind.

Happy Day!

I found out on facebook. To say I was shock is an understatement. Portia and I had a few swaps together and we had the best time doing them. I know she will be missed and our hearts are alittle more cracked than they were. Its a lttle less happy here, but a lot happy for her being there( heaven). Gonna miss her.

Since consensus is that the best idea might be for everyone to send to the memorial fund on their own, here is a copy of her obituary, with details on the memorial fund set up at her church.

PORTIA LYNN TROUPE
Portia Lynn Troupe of Johnson City, New York died on Monday, April 3, 2016.
She was born Feb. 29, 1952 in Shelbyville. Survivors include her husband Donald Troupe of Johnson City; son Greg H. Troupe, daughter Alexandria Troupe, both of Binghamton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law James P. and Corinne Troupe; and cousins.

She was saved at 15 and joined the Garrison Forks Baptist Church in Beech Grove. She was raised by her aunt and uncle Rex and Hazel Shelton and graduated from Central High School in 1970. She was a school teacher. Portia was teased her entire life for her size. As she often said "dynamite comes in small packages." She was a mother to all and a mentor to everyone, helping people regardless of the hour. She died as she lived, helping others. She was a member of the CrossPoint Community Church, Binghamton.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 3 p.m. at the CrossPoint Community Church, 1 Grand Blvd., Binghamton, New York. Rev. Marsh Sorber will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday at 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Flowers are appreciated or donations in her memory may be made to a Memorial Fund at the CrossPoint Community Church, 1 Grand Blvd., Binghamton NY 13905.

Marlee, That is exactly how I felt. I know there were many on the main forum sending cards to the family.
