Another hot one here. Went out very early and got my errands and grocery shopping done. Even though it was early when I was back home it had already heated up quite a bit. I hope everyone is being careful in this heat.

Judith, after last week up well over 100° this week in the mid 90s seems pretty nice.

Hopefully, the rain that is predicted today will cool things down a bit, thought it will be a bit more humid.

I'm finishing up the Selvage quilt top today and sewing on a rainy day is relaxing.

Storm came through last night and gave us some wonderful rain. Didn't last long though. With the days so hot we are in for more summer storms.

Seems the last few days of July will be nothing but hot. Looking forward to August when we will be back in the 70s and low 80s again. I'll be glad to get out of the 90s where the real feels temps are high.90s and 100. Rough to breathe in the heat.

It is hard to breathe when the heat and humidity are combined.
Yesterday it rained all morning almost two inches... Awesome! Thank you God. Looks like more showers are moving toward us.The plants love it and so do I. Right now it is cloudy.77°

It's going to be 97-99 all week long. Hot. I'm very thankful that it's cooling to the upper 50s at night; makes sleeping easier without hearing the clatter of the a/c. Fortunately we don't have the humidity, but sometimes it gets too dry.

Same pattern every day. Hot, humid, sometimes a thunder shower. Repeat the next day. I do worry that the hurricane season really begins to pick up in August through September. August starts this weekend the the Gulf has already sent a soaker tropical storm to southern Texas. Girls, not too much longer and we are going to have to batten down the hatches!! I am not looking forward to hurricane season!!

Winnie, last weekend I looked at the radar. It was so strange because it looked like a hurricane cloud mass. But I never saw an eye. The cloud bands were there. But even though I watched all day long...off and on. A perfect empty circle.

Our weather in Minnesota has been in the 80s during the day and 60s at night. Humidity high. Corn and soybeans are growing like crazy. It's a good summer.

Oh Winnie so sorry to hear that. I hope it is not an active hurricane year.

We have had rain since last evening and I am so glad this last day of July will be cooler. In the 70s and rain but I'll take it!
I am hoping August is better to us than July has been.

We are looking at 100 to 109 for the next 10 days. I'm going to keep the bathtub full of water in case there is a power failure and I need to cool off. I used to have a wading pool in the backyard when we had a lawn.

We are really dry too. Our last sprinkle was in late April or early May. I don't really expect any rain until October.

Gosh Judith, I hope you can get some relief from a shower to tamp down that heat out there!! Right now it is thundering away but no rain yet. The pop up showers we have are not always guaranteed, and it can rain on one side of the city and be totally dry on the other.

I saw on weather.com today that there long range forecast has most of the US average to above average temps for Sept.- November. Phooey!! That means just a long and continuous summer for us. Last year was very hot on Halloween which can be drier and cooler since it comes at the end of October. Some of our flowers are just giving up under this August heat. Happens every year that a few just throw in the towel. We water them between rain showers but I think the heat just wears them completely out!

Winnie, I have squash vines that were soaked. With water yesterday and today they are dying. Same for the sunflowers. I am sad...but I keep reminding myself that they do not last forever. I have been gathering the zinnia blooms as they dry up on their stems. I let them get really dry then shatter the flower head and save until next spring to plant again. I just read our forecast for the next week. Tomorrow 103 and about the same until Monday before it goes back to the 90s.

We have had so much rain since last October. Of course we didn't do a garden this year. If ever there was a year to do it for good growing this would have been the one. We are looking forward to cooler temps in the low 80's this coming week. Of course some days will be sunny and some will be rainy. The grass is growing so much JT has to mow every weekend.
I wish you gals who need it would get rain. It's strange how some get so much and others none.
