I posted a reminder of this over on the main forum and wanted to do the same here as well. Do some of you remember that last year we started a new tradition here at MJF by celebrating the Friday after Thanksgiving as National Farmgirl Pie for Breakfast Day? Yep, we shared the fun of indulging in leftover pie for breakfast and then sharing on the forum what was enjoyed. You know how stuffed you can be after eating dinner that dessert is often almost too much? Well, we now have extended the fun to enjoy pie for breakfast the next day. Sounds good to me!
Remember if you are eating dinner with friends or at a restaurant, taking home some pie counts too. Share the fun with family and friends and let's give this new tradition a second year of success!
What kinds of pie are your favorite?

I bet I can guess what kind of pie you will be eating, Winnie!

I grew up eating pie for breakfast :)! I don't know if that is/was a New England thing or not, but we did it. Now this was not your normal everyday breakfast, but we did enjoy an occasional piece of pie as our breakfast! If I had a pie here right now, I would do the same :)! We will be traveling the day after Thanksgiving, so I guess I will bring a to-go piece with me for breakfast! Love this :)! |

We used to eat pie for breakfast sometimes while I was growing up. Maybe it was the area I grew up in as everyone did that and no one thought it odd. Looking forward to pie for breakfast after thanksgiving. |

My granny would put a slice of Hard American cheese on her Apple pie. I have never tried that! I eat a piece once in a while for Breakfast with Coffee! It is a treat! I have to hide a piece for breakfast or my hubby will eat it! When I make Apple pie, the real one from scratch, there is usually not any left. My mom lives with us and if a neighbor drops by, we all have pie! LOL!

I enjoyed some leftover Pumpkin Pie this morning with cheese and it was delicious! Let us know what you enjoyed today. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day yesterday!! Does anyone love to make Turkey soup with the left over carcass? It is one of my favorite ways to use up the turkey. |

Ed and I had leftover pumpkin pie with whipped cream for breakfast and it was yummy! We didn't have turkey - we had pork loin - and I'm thinking of ways to use the leftover pork in soup or casseroles. Today will be a high in the 40s and tomorrow highs in the 30s. Great weather for soup. |

Well, guess I should have made an extra pumpkin pie because there were no leftovers! I never dreamed we would go through 3 pies but they were enjoyed. |

A small piece of caramel apple pie was perfect for breakfast this frosty morning. Winnie, I am getting my soup kettle out right after lunch to make creamy wild rice turkey soup. I throw in all the left over carrots and celery from yesterday's relish tray to help use those up. It was 3 this morning so soup simmering is perfect for today. |

Yum, all these great reports of pie for breakfast today AND soup simmering on the stove! Gracious Julie, with 3 degrees this am, a pot of simmering soup qualifies as a must have!! Mmmmmm, Shannon, you know how I love apple pie and I bet the family enjoyed it for breakfast this morning. Linda, sounds like your leftovers with the port are going to be delicious. Casseroles are always welcome! |
