Just wish the subject was more positive! There are 2 escaped inmates from maximum security roaming around our area.

The prison is approximately 32 miles away from my house southwest. And they believe the inmates are still within that area. My friend Gina (who lives approx. 9 miles from the prison) has been advised by the law enforcers to keep her outside lights on and of course, all doors locked. School is cancel in that area. Lots of police barriers and the US/Canadian border is under heavy surveillance. There are constant flashing lights from law enforcers. Lots of helicopter going back and forth.

Here is an article: http://news.yahoo.com/female-prison-worker-love-agreed-drive-getaway-car-133743836.html

Let us hope that all will end peacefully with no one injured!

Praying - for the law abiding citizens and children, for the escaped inmates, and for the supervisor and any others that were involved in the inmates' escape! I cannot imagine how terrifying it must be for each and every one of them! Before I get slammed for praying for them all (though slammed is surely too strong of a word on this forum!), yes, I understand the escaped inmates are "evil" men... but they were still created in God's image and are obviously lost to this world... they are obviously so confused in their way of thinking that they a) killed someone(s) to get themselves in the prison to begin with, b) manipulated someone in thinking their feelings were love, and c) are now on the run trying to survive, which will obviously cause desperation. I pray that they do not harm anyone and realize that it is best for them and everyone else to just turn themselves in. I pray for the lady that helped them escape... she was a married woman, yet still believed she was in love with someone else... so she went against what she knew to be the right thing and helped them, though in the long run, her conscious got the better of her. And of course I pray for the safety of the citizens in the area, of all ages... so scary! I am fearful of going in my backyard because of an unstable neighbor... I cannot imagine being afraid to do so due to convicted murderers! Very thankful our God is sovereign and in control!

Oh my, Carole, I've been following this story on the news! Stay safe and keep your doors locked!

Shannon, bless your heart for praying for them all. We've been taught that what we do for the very least among us, we do for Him. But it is not easy to remember this. Your faith is strong and beautiful!

Happy Day!

Carole, I'm still praying for everyone up there. It doesn't sound like things have let up any. The last news report says that although they could be anywhere, the authorities think they are still in the area hiding in some dense woodland area. Gosh, I sure hope they find them soon! Continue to be careful, OK?

Happy Day!

Thank you everyone for your concerns. It just dawned on me, I'm 32 minutes away and not an hour!

Yesterday, I took Pumpkin to skating (for those new to this group, my dd is a figure skater) and hung around to talk to Kate Messner. Her daughter is good friends with my daughter and they have been skating together in forever. Anyway, Kate is an author, so I enjoy having discussions with her .... ok truth be known, I live vicariously through her! lol (I need to organize my life to include writing) Ok, so the talk around the arena (and pretty much everywhere around here) is the escape inmates. Kate (who in a prior life was a reporter) has been telling me that she's been hanging around Dannamora in a coffee shop, which is packed with reporters from around the world, and just catching what is going on. She's working on a new book about exactly what we are going through - the effect of escape criminals on a small town - I think it's ingenious!

Police forces have been working around the clock. I understand that many people NOT from around here have been complaining about the time it is taking to catch these guys. Please know that the area they think they are in is a mosquito haven, very swampy, lush, densely wooded, with some quick sand area, water and never mind the fallen trees from past storms. It ain't easy work! You would think the mosquitos alone would get them to seek comfort in their cells! lol We've had so much rain that it doesn't make it easy. My heart goes out to the law enforcers working in these conditions. You're talking 13 hour days! There isn't a place where there isn't some form of law enforcers!

There was a video of two guys that fit the description dumpster diving. I image they must be hungry by now. More info is coming out regarding the Joyce Mitchell - the lady that assisted the inmates.

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts! Let's all hope it will end peacefully! Farm girl hug!

Yes, it will make a fascinating book -- much more fun to read about than to live through, I'm sure!

Sure hope they continue the search and find them soon! I went to Dennamora once to accompany them on their visit with someone. Unbelievable! I am surprised they left because as far as we could see some of them were living better than the families they left waiting for them.

Bought the Press Republican today (not a newspaper buyer/reading) just to see what was going on. There was a great article - "Policies may have left prison vulnerable, Retired CO says inmate complaints reduced catwalk patrols, flashlight use" You may be able to read it here:

http://www.pressrepublican.com/news/prison_escape/policy-changes-may-have-made-prison-vulnerable/article_45cbbd82-267f-5d5e-a74e-541d7441d57c.html

The paper was quite interesting today. Lots of investigations will be going on.

I just had a customer stop by who lives around the area. She says it is very stressful. This is such a small community, most people sleep with their doors unlocked, leave car keys in their car etc.... You can just imagine what this does to their lives. School is back in session (regent exams) and Saranac school is heavily patrolled by law enforcers. I can just image what is going through these children's mind. Sigh!

WOW, I just read the article. It is interesting, and a little scary. It seems like the inmates almost had more say in how things are run than the corrections officers.

I wouldn't think they stayed close to the area when they escaped.
