Hello everyone,
What a gorgeous day it is in way Northeast NY, I can see Canada from my house! I actually was able to eat my breakfast and enjoy a cuppa outside, in the sun. Ok, I had a layer on, but none the less, it looks promising. I think, well rumour has it, that spring is here!
Hubby and Pumpkin (DD) are headed to Massachusetts tomorrow morning. Now you all know what that means, right? I get the whole house to myself. So enjoy that. Now I just hope no one decided to visit! lol
I have lots planned .... however, it the sun is shining I may just forgo all of my plans and go play outside!
So what are you up to these days?

Hello everyone,
It is absolutely gorgeous here! I think the temps may reach in the 70's. I had plans on quilting all day but ..... after such a cold spring, it is difficult to stay inside. I can finally hear my garden calling!
Hope you are having a wonderful day!
Cheers! |

hi Carole, It was fun at the rummage sales I went to 1 and a thrift shop, it is all I had time for but I got a bag of felt and scraps and stuff and all the other bags of yarn were gone. The drought is still here but we aren't hurt as much up here but a lot of our rivers are channeled down to the Southern CA area where they don't conserve very well . This makes our rivers very low because of it. I am fine here. We haven't had enough rain to raise the rivers and keep them up but when we do get rain it is like a deluge and then gone. That can be a problem for raising the rivers especially if the tide is coming in and raising the river that way as well. Thank goodness that doesn't happen often. I am good though.
Did you get your 70 degree weather? I hope so.
Hi Denise I hope you are having a good day too and warm too? Did you plant yesterday or just work in the dirt?
Hugs darlene |

Denise, Did you get to enjoy your porch furniture today? It was gorgeous here. I slipped on a pair of shorts and made an iced tea ... sat outside and caught up on some magazine subscriptions. I get so behind at times ... The sun was shining .... even let the girls (chickens) out for a bit. They sure like their dust baths.
Speaking of chickens, dh when to NY State court on Monday to present his verbal argument. The village verses 5 chickens. The village zoning law states that we are allowed to have infrastructure to house domesticated animals. A chicken is a domesticated animal (as per the lawyer's dictionary) but the village regards dogs and cats as domesticate animals and nothing else. We'll see what the NY State supreme court says about it. It may take a few months for the verdict to be reached.
Darlene, glad you had a wonderful time. What do you plan on making with your bag of scraps? Thank you for the update on the drought situation. Glad you are okay.
Cheers! |

Well with my yarn which actually are good size balls and skeins, I probably will use them in different projects whenever I get to them. I use yarn in plastic canvas and I want to use it in my knitting machine, and maybe my sock loom, and and also share some with my grand daughter in Michigan who does knit and crochet. Also some of it is going to go to the 7th and 8th grade class at school for when they are learning to crochet. There was a lot of yarn, The bags were about 33 gallon size. Whoot! what fun.
I hope you had a good day today Denise.

Hi guys! Sorry I have been MIA! My son's leg is slowly healing. We see the orthopedic tomorrow. This past weekend my one neighbor - a very bitter woman - called the HOA president and said the chickens in our backyard is causing her to have rats and mice all over hers!?!? The president said the chickens had to leave. We haven't ride explaining that they do not cause mice but rather eat them, but he will not believe us :( so Tuesday the chickens went to a friends. I miss my chickens and their eggs! My children still cry every day when they go out back! They use to be outside children and now they want to stay in. The other issue we have had with that same neighbor is that she is constantly yell at my children for being too loud! The next time it happens, I may just call the police for harassment!
On an up side, we went strawberry picking last week. I made strawberry jam, strawberry syrup, strawberry vinegar for salad dressing, dehydrated strawberries and frozen strawberries. Yum! |

Shannon,
I was just thinking about you and wondering how you were. Glad to read that your son's leg is healing. So sorry to read about your chickens and your unfriendly neighbour. It stinks! Friendly neighbours are so much more fun!
Not sure of the fate of our chickens. DH did present in front of the NY state superior court judges. You know, it really makes the chicken problem petty when the case before you was a homicide. I wonder what was running through the judges head - Village of Champlain vs 5 chickens! Sigh!
How is everyone doing? We, here in way northeast NY, are finally enjoying some warm weather. So enjoying sitting outside!
Keep well everyone! Cheers!

Hello everyone,
I do hope all is well. We have had some gorgeous weather here in way Northeast NY. It makes for some nice breakfast time, sitting outside enjoy my toast and coffee while listening to the birds. I do enjoy this time of year.
We set up our pool last Wed and it is all filled. Now we are waiting for the temperatures to go up to 80 before we jump in. Having said that, DH did break a record this year by going in the pool in Thursday. The water was around 55 degrees. It used to be a running joke with DD as to the earliest one would get in the pool. When you're a kid and it's hot outside, it really doesn't matter what temperature the water is, she would just go swimming. So it became the "can I break my records of last year?" Well, someone decided to empty the fire pit (we have one on a stand) on the grass (there were lots of nails from burning scrap wood), DH told dd to mow right there and guess what? Yep, nails flew and made holes in the pool. So dh (I think he's the one that dumped the fire pit since he's the one that burned the scrap wood) put on his bathing suit and proceeded to patch the pool. I wasn't going to go in there! Very thankful that no one was hurt by the flying nails. DD too a powerful magnet (we have one on a stick, sort of like a puck on a stick) and cleaned the area.
So, anything exciting going on with you all?
I'm off to get my day started! Cheers! |

Well that was interesting, and having a pool this early must mean it is warm there. You don't see many outdoor pools in our area, It rarely warms up that much, and they can go step in the ocean. :D I am glad everyone was ok from the nails and didn't step on any either.
Hope you had a good day.

| Flying nails!?!? That sounds like something that would happen here, but it would be one of the kids injured, not the pool! So glad everyone was okay! Not too much going on here. Still struggling with the idea that my chickensaregone :( Oh how I miss their cackling! One day I will have lots more! |

Hi everyone! I am sorry for being MIA here but the past month has been filled with travel, house guests and a myriad of other distractions! I have been posting over on the main chatroom so at least I am keeping up there!
Shannon, I didn't know you were here and I am so excited you are part of our Scattered Prairie Gals group!! Welcome!! I am glad your son's leg is better but I am sorry about the whole chicken problem. It seems so unfair!
Well, IT was 90 degrees here yesterday and supposed to be the same here today. Summer has arrived here in the South! At least the early mornings are still in the upper 60s and the days are not quite as humid as they are going to get by the end of the month. I am trying to enjoy as much porch time as possible these days. The mosquitoes have arrived and so evenings and early mornings are a problem sometimes. |

Hi Winnie, Glad to see you back, It sounds like you were very busy.
Enjoy your weather!
Shannon I am so sorry about all the things you are going through and your chickens but your right someday you will have the best bunch of chickens ever!
I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day! I had a busy week end, on Friday I went to the Dairy Princess Dinner and the one I hoped would win didn't even place. I did win a John Deere cap and a LED flash light. Yay. Saturday I went to an art workshop at the refuge here and we drew birds I drew a Barn Owl, I am pleased he turned out. then when I was leaving I saw an Egret and was going to take a picture but couldn't at the moment because of another car then I pulled up and there it was sitting out in the field and further back from him was Blue Heron and I took a picture and it was really neat of the two of them then my camera lost the picture! Dumb thing. It was a beautiful Memory.
Sunday I went to Church and great time there.
It was a good day.
Take care all!

Hi Winnie! Welcome back from your travels! I think summer has hit here as well :/
Carole - any verdict on your chickens?
Darlene - don't you just love technology :/ Sounds like the picture indeed would have been gorgeous! Perhaps it will appear on your memory card later!?!? I guess one can hope!
Things here are still crazy, but I am feeling a little more relaxed. We aren't fighting about our chickens right now, because we are not sure how much longer we will be here. The military s medical boarded my hubby and we should have an answer in July or August... They can a) return him to duty, b) medically retire him, or c) kick him out (aka separate or discharge). He only hasa eighteen months until retirement, as it is. |

Winnie, welcome back! Do tell all about your wonderful trip abroad!
Darlene, sounds like a wonderful day for you. As for your memory card, it is lost in the camera (can you retrieve it from your camera) or is it that you cannot retrieve it from your computer? Just asking. Once I download my pictures unto my computer, I now always format my memory card. As for the pool, I always set it up early May so that it has time to warm up. Also, we have very rusty water (we filter for the house and drinking but not for the outdoor hose) and it takes a while for the water to clear. I will take a picture of the pool filter when I clean it tonight to give you an idea.
Shannon, how is your son's leg? Is it healing better? Have you made any more aprons with your dd? I hope things work our well for your dh. As for the chickens, no word yet. DH says it can take months before the court issues it's findings. Thanks for asking.
We are back to cold weather here. Brrrrrr! Did manage to get some gardening done and cleared a section on Sunday to plant some strawberries. I do hope they take.
Well, enjoy your day everyone. Hope the weather is springy in your neck of the woods! Cheers! |

We are finally suppose to be cooler today. YAY! We are going to only be in the 80s. We have a busy day today... Need to finish school up for the week, and then a baseball game tonight. We got free tickets for military appreciation night :) Then tomorrow we are heading to the zoo. My youngest boy turns four next Tuesday, and he wanted to go to the zoo for his birthday. I love that my kids want to do things as a family, rather than have parties! So far this year, my middle daughter wanted to go hunting (yup she turned six and wanted to go squirrel hunting with her daddy and three brothers), I chose the zoo, my middle son chose fishing, and now my youngest son has chosen the zoo. My hubby is next, so we will see what he wants to do. Then it is our youngest daughter.. She is only turning two, so I am not really expecting her to chose something. Maybe we all can come up with some ideas! My oldest daughter's birthday is right around when I am due, so we might need to plan something early for hers!
My son's leg is healing so wonderfully well now! No infections and it is closed, though the surgeon said there is still more healing to do underneath the scar. It looks really good! My dd and I have not made any more aprons, or really anything right now! It has been such a ray month that my machine is just collecting dust! I really need to get on the ball with it! |

Darlene, aren't the pictures fun to look at? It's the next best thing to being there!
Shannon, glad to read that your son's leg is doing much better! The zoo is such a fun place to explore, I can certainly understand why it would be chosen! I so enjoyed my dd's birthday parties! They grow up so quickly!
Enjoy the day everyone! Cheers |

Hello everyone,
How was your weekend?
This weekend was somewhat quiet for me. I decided that I was going to clean my sewing room/studio. Okay, truth be know, I was looking for a project I started a while back. Despite all the cleaning, I have not found that project! Hum .....
Today I spent some time with Penelope (my longarm machine) and quilted this quilt for a customer.
So what are you up to these days?

| Hi all! Love the camper pot holders!!! Those are seriously precious! Life here is crazy... i'm thinking that is just our season for right now. Let's see... went to the zoo Friday and had a lovely time! Cake home that evening and got ready to cut grass and found rat poison behind our trees... our neighbor put it there after we specifically said no because i ddn't want the youngest or the dog to eat it! Found more Saturday morning and called the cops :/ Sunday had a GREAT day at church!!! Monday was uneventful :) Tuesday hubby had an MRI on his back - pretty bad herniation that will probably need another surgery. Then last night the neighbor decided to start yelling at my son over the fence for playing in our backyard and chasing a lizard (he was banging on our compost bin) - and told him she was going to call the sheriff's department on him... so we called the cops out for harassment of the kids. Oh my she needs to leave my kids alone! Today has been pretty uneventful, other than massive thunderstorms. I am extremely thankful for the rain - the garden really needed it! |
