November is a month for gratitude, being thankful for what we have. I thought, perhaps, it would be fun to start a gratitude journal for one month. This journal can be what ever you want it to be, whether it is a composition book (I love composition books and have quite a collection) or a special notebook, you can even use this forum if you wish... it's up to you. Each day, write down 1 (one) things that you are grateful for. As always, this is voluntary.

It is helpful to sit down and do it at the same time each day. For me, I like to write in the evening, before I hit the sack. It clears my mind and sets the stage for a peaceful sleep. Sometimes, given your day, it can be difficult to think of something to be grateful for, I've been known to write "I am thankful for the air that I breath!" As you continue with this exercise, it becomes easier and easier.

If you are working on MFJ badges, the gratitude journal is applicable to the "Farmgirl Gratitude" merit badge found in the "Each Other" section. However, to be eligible for the Beginner level merit badge, you cannot repeat the same gratitude more than once. You would also need to read a daily passage from the book "The book of Awesome" by Neil Pasricha (I found mine in a used book store). If you have no desire to work on a merit badge, you are free to repeat your gratitudes as often as you wish.

So how about it, will you join me in gratitude?

Well I am in. Do we just put it in a journal or also post it on here?

It's up to you Darlene. I'm choosing my journal! The book of Awesome is actually a good book. It's the simple things in life that matters!

This sounds great. I have the book already. I had wanted to do this several years ago, working on my badges. I'll let you know about the progress.

Glad that you will be joining me! I've kept a gratitude journal on and off for quite some time. However, I do tend to repeat stuff, so this will be a challenge! lol

Darlene, the book is pleasant to read. It really concentrates on the not so obvious things that are blessings. I hope you find it. The author even has a website 1000 awesome things!

Enjoy your day!

Gorgeous day today! Lots to be thankful here!

When you write in your Gratitude Journal, it doesn't have to be anything big or complicated. It's really the little/simple things in life that counts. For example, no lines at the grocery check out. How about the feel of the warm sun on your face .... Your pet snuggling up to you. That is what makes life precious!

Today I am grateful for:

1) a warm cup of coffee waiting for me to cradle it
2) Sitting in my sunny room, enjoying the sun
3) My dd joining me in the yellow room and chatting
4) Finding a copy of "Barefoot Contessa, How Easy Is That?: Fabulous Recipes & Easy Tips" at Sam's (we no longer have any book stores ;(
5) Enjoying a glass of wine

What a day! I hope your day was lovely!

Cheers!

Hello everyone,

How's the gratitude journalling coming along? I've been keeping up with being grateful and I thought I would show you my journal. When I decided to start a gratitude journal, I wanted it to be special, so I shopped for one that spoke to me. Here it is:

I try to write at least 5 things that day that I am grateful. It's not always easy and yes some do repeat. However, I make sure that one entry does not repeat. I do want to earn the first level of that Merit Badge.

For those reading "The Book of Awesome" how are you enjoying it? I found the entry "Strategic trick-or-treating" so funny, especially the following: "... big group triggers the rationing instinct in the people handing out candy. They become overwhelmed and default to the "One for you, one for you" candy-for-everyone technique". (p.14)

Enjoy the process!

How is everyone doing on their gratitude?

Is anyone reading The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha? It really is fun to read! Amazing how much we have to be grateful!

Catch you later!

Ahhhh Linda! We all fall behind at times ....

For me I think of it as important time for my soul! Reflecting on gratitude helps me see how abundant my life is. It shifts my perspective from lack to abundance! It really is about the perspective! ;o)

This is the season for giving. When we give, we share our abundance with others. You can still work on your gratitude journal. We all have so much to be grateful.

At times, life makes it difficult for us to see beyond the problems, but if we look hard enough we will see so much abundance in our life. For me, when all I see are problems, I know that I need an attitude adjustment! When I change my attitude, the world around me changes!

Enjoy the beauty of the day! Cheers!
