yeap I finally was able to get on here after getting MJto open it for me...& just wanted to say HOW wonderful you are for all that you did for me while I was at the farm & how I adore you all. I have heard wonderful things about all the hens here & am so glad to be a part of it... Ok Debbie wrote me about the card & recipe swap & I am doing that but just so you know I could not find a pack of thanksgiving cards so the cards are more winter holiday like but I think they will be alright since y'all are so understanding.
before I say anything else I want y'all to know that I celebrate Yule for me & my Hubby but do the Christmas thing for other people. SO I will never be upset over anything thing christmasy sent to me...Julie sent me a wonderful paper tree last year that I had up at the trailer the whole time I was there so I could see it & think about her. & I do have a red tree I put out every year with red.white & blue orniments for our military in honor of them....I just love Yule since its the 1st day of winter & Winter is my favorite time of the year so its not because of religion or anything. I know some were concerned of upsetting me while I was gone but I can honestly say I was thrilled with each card, letter & goodie y'all took the time to send me cause it made me feel cared about. I have only been home less than 2 weeks & quite overwhelmed by all that is going on...tv, phone, lights & so on...just not used to all the noise. so I feel a tad displaced at the moment but the kids are doing wonderful back in their coop with the heat lamps since its now dropping to below 30 at night. I have Lauria & Piper, 2 crippled hens in the house & brought Bowzer in last night cause she is molting & too cold....she has seizures when she gets too upset or stresses....so I am happy to have them with me again....lol..I do much better if I have some of them nearby. So anyway I want y'all to know I am finally here & can't wait to get to know some of you I've yet to meet...& Rain so glad you are here as I remember you from the MJ site!! I know Debbie & Tammy are off to Georgia for the Craft thing & can't wait to see all they show us how to do..

Hi Michele, So happy to hear from you on the forum :)! Glad you are doing well, but I am sure it is a big adjustment. My hubby was gone all day today and I had a TV break - no noise coming from that room. Love it! I love him too though, so guess we have to do what we have to do :)! I didn't even have a radio on, just me and the fur babies, baking and cooking up a storm - I loved it! My niece is working on a Family Cookbook, and I have to get her a few more recipes before the end of day....so will run for now! Just wanted to let you know how happy I am to see you on here! Hugs, Ruth

Denise & Ruth thank you so much for the notes, yes I am very happy to be able to be with the henhouse & know it will be the perfect place for me to go when I feel crazy...lol....Oh love the idea of the family cookbook, what a wonderful thing to have to share with all the family so the recipes aren't forgotten...isn't it amazing how something as simple as a recipe from the family can bring back such great memories? One of my favorite is actually a recipe for mac & cheese my ex mother in law make from scratch that to this day I love & think of her when I make it...she had no recipe per say but used what she had & then always put the buttered bread crumbs on top to toast & it was pure heavon. So you plan to publish it or is it just a family thing?... hugs to the both of you!

Michele, As far as I know at this time, the cookbook will be just for family and a few friends. Don't know if anyone else would want one, as it will have stories and photo's of family members that contributed the recipes. Most of the recipes are from myself and my two sisters that we remember from growing up. We have added a couple of recipes from each of our daughters and daughters-in-love (the "kids" don't even know about the cookbook) My niece has copied our Mom's handwritten recipes for some of them. She would have been 100 this past August, but she passed away at age 56 from a brain tumor. Daddy lived to be 94 :)! I am almost 72, my middle sister is 77 and our oldest sister is almost 81! SO some of our recipes are Old :)! Just like us!!! You are so right about recipes and food bringing back so, so many memories. The smell of them cooking, the taste can just take you back to a time and place like nothing else. That is one reason we wanted to get this done while we three "girls" are still living. Getting excited about surprising our family with these "Family Cookbooks". Hugs, Ruth
