Gals, when I was talking to Julie this morning we had a thought about Michele we thought we would share with you.

She loves Fall and Halloween, so instead of Christmas gifts if you wanted to send her goodies in October for Fall, Halloween and even Thanksgiving, we know she would love it! Fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving things to hang around her trailer, like cards, banners, hand towels, washcloths with fall, Halloween or Thanksgiving themes any wonderful things like that you could think of. Halloweeny socks, Fall Sweatshirt (size L-ExLarge) to keep her warm in the winter, just a few ideas for you and of course chocolates, tea and coffee, y'all know Michele and her coffee.

Any other things you could think of she would love and as always if you have questions just email Julie or I and we will try to answer your questions.

Thanks Gals as always for your kind hearts, all of us together help to ease Michele's loneliness and let her know she is in our thoughts and hearts.

Hugs,
Debbie

I have started a Fall-Halloween box for her also. I crocheted her a warm fuzzy Turquoise Scarf for the New York Winter. I got a sweet card form her thanking me for the coffee and books. I so admire her ! Debbie is right! That girl loves coffee! I will add more coffee too.

Tammy she likes Dunkin donut coffee, I am not sure if she has a grinder. I sent her pumpkin spice last year for fall and she loved it. She also likes flavored creamer. Connie she will love the scarf. I have also done dry soup mixes, meals in a box I.e. for Thanksgiving last year I sent her a little canned ham, instant mashed potatoes, a pkt. Of gravy, a can of olives and cranberry sauce, a can of yams and pumpkin pie pudding mix. Sometimes I just look in my cabinets and pull out something and toss in there to help fill a box up. She is on such a limited income so most of it is a treat to her. I know this sounds silly, but if you are sending her something breakable, nestle it in a couple rolls of toilet paper, who doesn't use and need that and it works better than bubble wrap!
She is worried about the winter-farmers almanac says it is supposed to be bitter cold and a lot of snow so extra batteries for little CD player and her flashlights would be good before it gets to cold to ship them and cd books that you find at the thrift store would help pass the time. A large piece of wool fabric for a new warm skirt would be perfect for her if you can find it somewhere cheap. Leg Warner's for those of you who knit and crochet would always be welcome. Debbie, if you think I am missing the boat on anything, please let me know.

C, D and Double A Connie. Medical teas are also good for her, last winter I sent her a few boxes for sore throat and chest congestion that she said really helped.

Peanut Butter and Crackers...I can do that! Thanks for all the great suggestions Julie, Debbie, Connie! I can't even imagine living her life...she's quite the inspiration! Question...where would you find Dunkin Donuts Coffee? I don't think I've ever seen it. Is it at grocery stores? I'm an unflavored Starbucks coffee person, so maybe I've just never looked :/ Medicinal teas...that is a great idea too. I'm looking forward to putting a box together for her!

Hugs, Tammy

I find Dunkin Donuts at my grocery store Tammy. It is a chain bakery and coffee shop, but not sure where all there stores are. I am a unflavored Caribou fresh coffee bean girl myself, preferably pressed and not brewed, but hubby is the old fashioned folgers guy, so we compromise, he gets his brewed folgers in the morning and if it is a chilly day I will make my caribou in the afternoon. I have recently made him a iced caribou coffee convert on hot days though, so maybe someday I can get him on board with the rest of my coffee addictions.

Thanks Julie! Will add those to my shopping list! I guess I just never shop for coffee in the grocery store (yes I know..I'm a coffee snob), so I will check our Safeway. I love my coffee pressed like you ! Usually Peets or Starbucks or if I can find it Blue Bottle organic...YUMMY. Has to be unflavored with 1/2 and 1/2 not milk! Another question, you said Michele likes flavored creamers...can you find them unrefrigerated?

Yes you can Tammy. They come in little single serving pots. Next to the coffee. Usually in a pkg. of 24. Same varieties as in the refrigerated selection. Just don't make the same mistake I did last time I sent them. To save space, I opened the box and just tucked them into all the little empty crooks and crannies. Well during shipping some of them popped open and attracted some ants along the way. But M' is a good sport so when she wrote to thank me, she even thanked me for the extra passengers.

Not to sound totally behind the curve here, but I gather from this thread and the info sheet on Michele is living in upstate NY off the grid? Do you think she would enjoy some homemade jam, raspberry or blackberry? I just finished apple butter also. I have some mystery books I can send as I echo her love of a good mystery.
Thanks for the leg up!
