Ladies, we have been working on the 'shopping green' badge over this past year. Many have finished, many have not, and the new gals may be just beginning. Let's all start and finish that one up. In the last level we need to either make, or get a reusable shopping bag and swap with other farmgirls. We can do a swap within the henhouse or if you are close to another farmgirl, maybe you could arrange a swap together. Let us know what you are doing and how it is going. Once we all complete the shopping badge, how about we all start on the 'Sew Wonderful' badge together? For those who may have done that one, let us know what you choose to work on next. Anyway, lets talk about what we are doing for our badges and troubleshoot for one another if we need to!! Have fun!!!

I just finished crocheting a market bag. I would really like to use it for my "green" merit badge. Do you think I could use it for the sewing badge in the crochet section?

Melody the badges are new to some of us. I know Linda and I have not applied for any yet. But we will look into it and see where your market bag can be used. So glad your wanting to start on your badges. This is to everyone, If you want to make a bag to swap, please let us know. If not, and just want to keep yours, that is fine. Just want to know who is swapping to match partners up. Also, Linda do we have a time set yet on when the swap is for?? Need another phone call! hahaha Like we don't just totally enjoy our visits. hehehehe Also, we need to find out if one item can be used for a couple of different badges. Like the bag could be used for going green, and also in the sewing area. Add that question for our call to MJF.

I think the bag could be used for the sewing badge or knit/crochet one as well. Does anyone want a specific time frame? I know that many of you have a lot going on right now and dont want to put too much onto anyone? How about we allow plent of time, say mail out mid to late Apr?

I have a red risenthal shopping bag (metal handle- breaks down flat) that I have used for 3 years. I love it. I haven't downloaded anything about the merit badges - but need to get started.

I just bought the cutest shopping bag from two teenage girls. They make them from 20# cat and dog food bags. They have handles and are super strong. They sell them for seven bucks! Good for those girls, I say!!

With as much as my dogs eat.....I could use the bags to make a whole set of luggage!

Do not count me in on the swap. It is a very good idea I have made many and given many away as well but I will sit this one out. Thanks just the same. Lilly

Ladies I feel most of us have alot going on in our lives right now. How about we do our tote's for the green badge and maybe when things slow down a little for everyone we can pick another swap. Let me know what you think.

Brenda, I agree too, if that is ok with everyone. I am heading back home around March 5th or so. Where I used to live is pretty rural without craft and fabric supply stores. So, how about in the spring we try a card/seed swap? Much less expensive and perhaps easier for all? Thoughts?

You can count me in for the card/seed swap. Will it be for veggies or flowers or both?
I've got both if I can find where my family moved everything too!
I'm going to try starting some apple seeds and maybe I'll have an orchard some day. LOL
I saved the seeds from apples I got last fall when I was putting up some apple pie filling.
