Just thought I'd get this started with an idea or two.

Discussing with Robin about something we could do as a Spring Project and were wondering what you thought about:

- putting together some seeds, plants, other gardening supplies to donate to either a family who needs some help in getting those things; a community garden or some other organization who could use the donations.

Let me know if you think it's doable for you.

When we pick a project to do together then we'll discuss the specifics in the "PROJECT DISCUSSION" forum area.

THANKS!
CJ

I think this is a great idea, and I would be happy to send some things. In addition to a community garden you might look for a school that has a garden program. They always welcome donations.

Okay "chicks". . . this project is for you to do in YOUR community if possible. Can you identify a family, a community garden, or someone in YOUR communty that needs some help.

If you can't in YOUR community, let me know and we'll go from there.
THANKS!

I'd be happy to donate some seeds to our township. We don't have a community garden but the township likes to brighten up different sections they have benches and gazebos with flowers. I will definately do this with my daughter, SassyCasie. So count us both in!

Karen,
That would be fine . . . I will probably donate to the garden that the organization that provides services to our son does for their clients. I could send your items that way.
So, you are welcome to send things to me and that's where they will go.
Sound okay??

THANKS!

"Lady Jane" and "SassyCasie" . . . sounds like a great idea!!!
When you get your Henhouse Kits there are some cards in there you can use to give with gifting/donations.

If possible, get a picture of you two to post here . . . and give us details of what you did, etc.
You'll want to be sure to let folks know you're MJF Farmgirls and part of this Henhouse.
Great idea!!

"Ceejay" I received the henhouse kits today! We both enjoyed looking through them very much. Thank you so much. And the gloves are great, the purple makes the orange pop. I will definately be giving the cards out to people to help get some people maybe into the sisterhood. When we go to donate the gardening supplies we will make sure to let people know we are with MJF and part of this Henhouse. Then we will make sure to let everyone else know what we did.

We will get a picture posted up here as soon as possible, we have to get new batteries for the camera first.

Be sure to let me know if you need more of the 'business' cards . . . you can write your name and phone number on those. I can make more of those.

And, the others to give with gifts/donations as well . . . I can get you more of those too!!

Thanks . . . happy "henhous-ing".

Karen,
I'm thinking mostly veggie seeds for this particular garden. As I recall they use it to grow produce for clients to eat.

THANKS MUCH!!!

I am donating 4 pair of mens pajamas to my local hospice, wish I had more because I would take some to the nursing homes. My grandmother was in a nursing home and one of the workers told me that there are many patients that are taken there and left, never visited or have anyone to bring them needed items. My mil works for hospice and some of those patients have no insurance so they accept them for free so same goes for hospice there are so many needs in both places. I know money is tight everywhere so if you cant donate maybe we can find someone who doesnt have anyone in to visit and at least go visit every once in awhile it sure makes the day a lot shorter for those patients. CJ is this something we might could do somewhere down the line? Blessings, Karen

CJ got my kit yesterday and Love it, Thank you. The business cards are great. Getting word out what the farmgirls are doing will encourage others to look us up and see what they have been missing. I'm planning to get some plants to give to one of the Senior community's here in town so they can put them around their flagpole. They do a 4th of July program at the flagpole. I really believe they will love it.
Hugs, Brenda

Brenda . . . that's a great idea. Be sure to let them know you are from FARMGIRL and FARMGIRLS SOUTHWEST HENHOUSE. You can give them one of the "gifting" cards as well as a business card.
AND, get a picture taken to post here.
GOOD JOB!!

CJ I will be taking the extra produce form the garden to the Catholic Church as they have a daily lunch for the areas familys that are in need of good food. This is for all the areas family not just the Catholic church. I would do some seeds but summer water bills around here are out of the world so people don't garden or even keep there lawns up.

I got my Hen house packet and love all the goodies I will keep in better touch now that the Grands are all here and the DH is back in the truck for a few weeks.

Basket of garden goodies going to Community Connections, which is an organization that provides services to adults with developmental disabilities. Our son is a client serviced by this agency.

Several pairs of garden gloves, some garden tools and a big bunch of seeds. I've attached one of our "gifting" cards and a "FGSW" business card from Karen "Ga Girl" and myself.
I think it will be useful!!

I didn't want to take a picture of me because Karen helped make this happen and she wasn't able to be here for pic . . she lives in Georgia! And, Jeremy, our son is actually going to be the one to deliver the basket because I will be working!!

Hi everyone,

My spring project was completed today -- a clean up at the local cemetery. This is a mountain cemetery and is quite remote. When we arrived there were a dozen deer grazing among the trees. The sound of the chain saws scared them away but I'm sure they'll be back. There is a gentle stream meandering through the cemetery and the deer and the big horns congregate there for a drink. It's a beautiful peaceful place and I'm happy that my husband and my daughter are buried there. It felt good to be outside doing hard physical labor. I'll probably feel like one hurting unit in the morning.

Hugs,

Ilene
