Posted - Jun 19 2016 : 6:04:22 PM Tried to start a new topic under project discussions but it won't open anything up. So, I figured I'd just add one here. I have been hoping to getting some of my projects done that have been sitting in the closet. I started with one of the quilts. I had bought material for a quilt for my granddaughter about 6 years ago and never got around to starting it until now. So I cut out all the blocks and will sew them all together tomorrow. Her 11th birthday is in September and I hope to have it finished by then. We do have a new grandchild coming in Aug/Sept so I want to get as much done as possible before that. I am hand quilting it so I hope to get everything else done quickly so I will have time to do that. I am also going to look into using this for one of my badges.
Have a great day! |

Posted - Aug 24 2016 : 03:20:28 AM Caron, I only have a small closet to keep them in and sometimes that seems to get out of hand. Lol. So, I must get realistic about which ones I will actually work on. I still have more to go through and decide on but it is going quite well. It has cause me to rethink my set up. |

Posted - Aug 23 2016 : 11:59:34 AM I just downsized some Sunday school materials. I hated to do it, but I can only hold on to so much. It's probably the same with craft supplies and projects. :) |

Posted - Aug 19 2016 : 09:57:08 AM So the top is done. Working today on cleaning and sorting through projects to keep and those to get rid of. Must downsize my crafting to only what I know I will actually get accomplished. |

Posted - Jun 23 2016 : 7:15:57 PM The first 2 blocks went great, the third is aptly name Patience Corners but I did manage to get it to come out right and after finishing a row on the 4th block my machine decided to have fits. All is fixed now though so will work on the rest of that block and a couple more tomorrow. There are twelve blocks or squares or whatever you want to call them. So many of them involve triangles so getting those points right can be a challenge. I am enjoying learning the different patterns and their names. Hoping it comes out as well as I imagine it to look. |

Posted - Jun 23 2016 : 11:29:26 AM I probably won't do any projects other than gardening till the Fall months. I am finishing up VBS tomorrow at my church and then I have a couple of out-of-town trips with my husband so rather than start and be interrupted, I just put it all off till everything settles down. |

Posted - Jun 20 2016 : 10:08:58 AM Winnie I understand your joy in doing the smaller projects for MJF! I have so many projects going on, but doing things for MJF are small enough, not to mentiohave a timeline (though I have been late at times!)
Denise I too am looking forward to your quilt! I have started a few, but have not finished any yet! |

Posted - Jun 20 2016 : 05:27:56 AM Good luck, Denise! I look forward to a photo when you get it done. I completely understand that UFO/UFP stash that keeps piling up. Several years ago, I went through all of my stuff like that and pretty much gave it all away. Since then, I only do one project at a time and try and keep from buying the supplies for something that catches my eye but then never gets done. It is hard because I always find fabric and craft ideas that I want to do. But, I think as I have grown older, I realize that my desire is greater than my dedication to actually making the project. I also realize that the time it actually takes to do all of these cute ideas, takes time that I want to do other things as well. It has been a long struggle to tamp down my interest and reframe it in my current reality. For me, however, when I commit to a project, I feel good about the time it does take and I actually want to see it completed in a short frame of time. The result is that my projects end up getting finished and then I can enjoy what I made or use it for the gift I had intended. I love making things for our MJF swaps because it allows me to do something fun but isn't a big huge project that takes months to finish. |
