Speaking of Hankies,,,

The intricate stitching on some of these Hankies is just beyond speech!

Denise, thank you so much for my St. Patrick's day card and hankie. That was very nice of you to send it to me. I am going to see if I can find a pretty vintage frame with the glass in it, then put the hankie in side, and then get a dry erase marker, and use it to write notes on to my hubby, like I ran to the store or pick up milk. I think it would look so pretty out and be helpful too.

Lookee, lookee, at what I found in my stash. I knew I had these, but hadn’t seen them for years.

The first is a panel of Texas handkerchiefs.

The next is 2 sets of Sliced Bread Hankie Sets of reproductions handkerchiefs put out by Moda fabrics. The 16 hankies in each set came in a fabric “envelope” that is similar to those that were originally used in a bread basket to keep rolls warm. I know I didn’t pay $32 a set as shown in the current ad that I found on the Internet, but I’m not sure how much I did pay for them. I had originally bought them to make a butterfly quilt using the handkerchiefs. I have the pattern for the butterfly quilt in one of my pattern books.

Retrobarn.com shows these sets Out of Stock. My two sets have the same hankies in each, but they don’t all look like the ones shown in the Retro Barn webpage

Pics of my sets

Linda, the hanky panels are wonderful. If you decide not to use the Texas hankies to make a quilt or to sell them I am interested.

Oh My Stars! Linda… Score!!!

I remember back in the 1960’s when you could buy pre-printed panels of fabric, to cut-n-sew… hankies, stuffed animal pillows, pillow cases even simple little girls clothing… in the 1980’s ’ you could buy printed holiday prints- vests as well as simple ornaments etc…

Your having the Hankies ‘sew-n-go’ ( or sew-n-blow :>) is awesome!

These two are lovely, with the tiny tatting? Or very tiny crochet flowers on them.

Linda, I love how those old handkerchief panels were made into those cotton sacks. What a clever way to use them for storing things in a pretty way. Very neat!
