Hey everyone, our 2022 Farmgirl Apple Festival is drawing to an end on Sunday, September 25 with our Apple Pie Sunday. Of course, if you are not a dessert or pie fan, it is also a time to make your favorite savory apple dish. There are lots of this year harvested apples making their way into all the grocery stores. Whatever your favorites are, they are now becoming available.

One savory way I have enjoyed apples this past year has been with cooked stove top pork chops and these apple sausages that are available sometimes. The apples add just a bit of sweetness to spices like sage or thyme. Be sure you cook with an apple that doesn't turn mushy when cooked, like Granny Smith or Honey Crisp.

For me, I am planning an easy apple cobbler recipe and will be using some Rave apples from the grocery store.

If you decide to join in and bake a pie, cobbler, or make a savory dish, please share with us on
Sunday. We always love a good food photo to enjoy!

Have fun and Bon Appetite!!

My goodness. I didn’t realize it was already the end of the month. I need to get to the store. I’m torn between an apple crisp and crockpot cinnamon apples. I may need to take a family vote. I can’t wait to see everyone else’s yummy pictures.

This is a busy weekend. We attend our local annual AppleFest yesterday. Brought home locally made apple cider.
Will be making something simple for Apple pie Sunday today. Maybe baked apples.

Hay there. The end of the month has caught me by surprise too. I don't have any apples left so its off to the store for me today. I still haven't mastered posting photos here but I will do my best. I'll probably make a pie. Hugs.

Here is our pie, it smelled just like fall while I was baking it yesterday. Yummy!

As most of you know I am not a baker, I don't enjoy baking, all that precise measuring is not for me. This year I decided not to do my once-a-year apple pie, but I do like being a part of Apple Pie Sunday. So, this is what I came up with, Keebler's mini graham pie crust, filled with store bought apple pie filling, topped with Blue Bell dixie cup ice cream. Gotta, say I enjoyed every wee bite.

Debbie it was and best of all no baking or messy clean up. Got a feeling I may do it again next year.

Another plus about no baking Sara is you do not have to heat up your kitchen when it is 79 degrees outside. I had two fans on in the kitchen but, it was worth it.

Didn't make Apple Pie, but did use berries from my harvest to make triple berry pie... does that count?

Theresa, those pies look delicious and neat that they were made from your own berry plants!

Debbie, your pie looks fantastic and I bet everyone enjoyed it too~~

Here is my apple cobbler. This recipe is always a winner and way too simple.

I made crockpot cinnamon apples yesterday! They always make the house smell so yummy and taste delicious. There was only a little left over that we ate for breakfast.

Everyone's apple creations look yummy!

Thank you Winnie, Love being able to walk out the back door and pick berries. We planted Elderberries last year so next year I should be able to add elderberries to the list. Can hardly wait to make some elderberry jelly, syrup and tinctures, not to mention tea! YUM

Everyone's creations look wonderful! Sara - that "recipe" sounds wonderful! I bet it would be fantastic with cherry pie filling as well!

I made an apple cobbler this year. It's all gone LOL!

Theressa - I've never had elderberries - what are they like?

Everything looks so yummy!! :) I tried a new to me apple crisp recipe. It was delicious…so much so that we had dessert after lunch and finished it off with dessert after dinner! Lol

Heather, I find them slightly tart and a little sweet. They mix very well with blackberries but also with strawberries.
