I was trying to get a little yard work done today but Mother Nature had different plans!
Winds kicked up and then the rain came down...
I did manage to put my little Ribbon Flag out! Just as it started to rain!
Anyway, the ribbon flag was an idea from a past MJF magazine,, I made this one about 3 years ago,, it is starting to show it's age so I might have to make a new one for next year.

Coolio! Sometimes I have trouble posting pictures and I find that if I rename the picture it usually works. Weird but MJF site prefers words and numbers and no characters.

I made the same one with my Neice too Grace. But, it is packed deep somewhere. They were fun to make, yours is great with age.

Well, that's pretty cute. Did you have a pattern or did you just wing it? I've been working on my 4th of July swap project. I'm liking it. It's kinda off the wall and different. I hope Ms. Debbie will like it. Interested to know more about that cool flag.
hugs,
jean

Hey Jean, I used a large/long orphaned wooden knitting needle,, a bunch of different red ribbons, and white lace trim, cut then approx 12" some a bit longer to give an uneven hem,, then I simply tied them onto the needle, followed with a dab of glue to secure the knot. Then I glued on the scrap piece of fabric (blue w/white stars)and a piece of lace across the top, to cover the knots. Then I tied a piece of jute to both ends for the hanging.
A great way to use up scrap ribbons...
Have fun..

I've made several of these only with the texas flag - a white star on a denim background at the top and red and white strips hanging on the bottom. I've used dowels and tree branches to hang them on.

This idea could be modified with colors to match, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Autumn, and Christmas..
