Please remember to "Subscribe" to this topic so you don't miss any important information.

This swap is for mini-aprons made with a patriotic-theme in design or fabrics. When making aprons for your fellow swappers, please remember to make something that you would like to receive. We love embellishments - buttons, trims, pockets, lace, ruffles, etc, but they are not always necessary depending on the design of the apron.
NOTE: All the aprons you make do not need to be the same - a variety is fun, too! Use up your scraps and be creative. You can sew, crochet, or knit the mini aprons. Start making aprons as soon as you sign up!

Here is picture of previous Patriotic themed mini aprons:

Here are examples from previous themed swaps: themes included farmgirl, Christmas, Valentines, fancy, animals, cowgirl, spring, fall, etc.

NOTE: There are patterns available for mini-apron "ornaments" - Simplicity 1957 and Simplicity 2748 (IMHO these aprons are involved and complicated). There are also free crochet and other mini apron patterns on Pinterest. You can use these or design your own half-aprons or full bib-style aprons. Farmgirls LOVE embellishments!

Here are a few patterns I've had in my saved files:

There is a mini apron pattern at
www.beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com
It is from 2005, so in the search box in the upper LH corner type "water bottle apron" and then scroll down for the link to the pattern. I have used this pattern a lot.

http://lacenribbonroses.blogspot.com/2008/02/old-fashioned-bottle-aprons.html?m=1

For all you crocheters, out there, here is a cute adaptable apron some of you may like.

Look down the page. I love the red and white version.
And more:

Sign-ups start now: May 1
Sign-ups end: Noon, Monday, May 16
Important! Mail out to Linda NO LATER THAN: Friday, May 26. The sooner the better after we know how many swappers are participating. I will send you my address as you sign up.

Again, your aprons, postage and return envelope should arrive to Linda NO LATER THAN May 30.

Here are the rules for this swap:
1. You will make a mini apron - either half-apron or full bib-style apron - for each farmgirl who signs up, including yourself (# depends on signups). Finished apron size is approx. 5" wide and 5-6" long depending on style (Note: my half aprons start at 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" and are hemmed and gathered to a 5" waist) not including the ties ... ties on each side should be about 5-6" beyond the waistband on each side so the aprons can be tied onto an object for display. The bib aprons are about 6-1/2" to 7" long, not counting the neck strap. You might want to add a pocket and tuck a little note inside. You will be getting one of your mini aprons back. Please be sure to sign your mini aprons.
2. You will send me your complete set of mini aprons (1 for each person who signs up, including YOU).
3. You will INCLUDE a Self-addressed, stamped (with postage stamps, not metered) envelope with the same amount of postage as your envelope costs to mail. Include $1.00 cash in the envelope to cover the cost of mailing your mini aprons back to you. The extra dollar will cover cost of extra weight that different trims might add. If the cost to mail to you is more than this I will let you know. Depending on how embellished your aprons are compared to the others, postage could be a bit more.
4. After all farmgirl aprons are received, I will divide up the mini aprons and mail one from each person back to you (including yours).

I will list names of those who sign up and let you know the final total!

Let's have some fun with these! Start making the minis as soon as you sign up so you will have some made and won't be rushed before the deadline.

Ok - I have finished 2 so far, and have 6-8 more cut out, so entice people to join in. This has always been a fun swap. I'm just trying to think up some slight variations of this mini - or maybe I will do them all the same?? Hmmmmm ... !

Quiltee Linda...I loved making all of those aprons. Please, may I sign up? Perhaps this will pull me out of the funk. I remember how much fun it was to sew them up! First I must see if the machine will sew... but sign me up anyway.

Such a shame, Grace! NOT!

Luckily, I used fabric and trims I already had. I've finished 9 aprons so far and have 4 more that are 1/2 done. My aprons are all the same pattern, same fabric, similar trims, and all have a pocket (though the pockets are not all the same).

I'm getting as many as I can done now because we have a cruise starting on Sunday and I'm not taking my sewing machine. Yes, really. LOL!
