Nancy, that sounds wonderful and a great way to make memories with your granddaughter. I hope you have plenty of produce from your garden.

Kathy, I love rhubarb. It's on my list of things to plant, but I won't be planting any until next year. I need to get some of my other garden space planned out first.

Next week we will be heading to to store to get the rest of our veggie and flower plants. We need to wait until May 15th to be safe enough to plant them outside, so I will just keep them inside until then. But I am getting so excited!

Krista I am excited for you. I recommend getting bird netting for the blueberries and raspberries or the birds will eat them all. I sat and watched a catbird one day just gulp a huge berry down in a second! The berry was bigger than his beak. It was funny to see.

Connie, oh my goodness! How funny is that! Last year my birds didn’t bother my raspberry plants, so hopefully they don’t again this year. My father-in-law is the one who gave us the blackberry starts and he said not to count on them having any berries this year. Makes me kind of sad but will totally be worth it when they are crazy full of blackberries.

I have a row full of carrots up, some onion starts, my broccoli is looking awesome, and my peas are getting so big. I will be planting the rest of my stuff soon. May 15th is our safe zone!

Krista,

I am so jealous of your gardening zone. We are so close, yet so far away in terms of gardening. The Wasatch Front is great for gardening. Please show us pictures of your garden as you progress.

Sherone, let me grab some!

I went to our local nursery today and got the rest of my garden starts. We will be planting everything this weekend. I also grabbed some flowers while we were there. I need to get something put in our front yard to add some color lol!

Here is my carrots and onions

Here is my broccoli and peas

I know it's not perfect and many spots are missing because the seeds never came through but I'm still learning.
Here is my whole garden

Krista,

That's a great start. I've been gardening for 30 plus years and I still have seeds that don't germinate. I love looking at those mountains. Thanks for the pics.

Thank you Sherone. I’m going to try and throw a couple more seeds in and see if they will grow.

Found 2 new blackberry starts yesterday. I’m so excited about those. Wish I had more but I’ll take what I can get! Plus my sister in law called me and asked if I wanted some of her blueberry starts. I told her yes. I’m excited to get those planted here too!

Remember to enjoy YOUR garden! There will always be gardens planted by others that will look better/ produce better. But take pride in what you grow each year, what you learn each year from both your successes as well as what did not work. Gardening is an act of nurturing-a partnership with God & His creation.

Thank you Sharon. That is an excellent reminder. I am super excited to see what works out for me this year. I planted the remainder of my seeds and starts today. Everything is in and hopefully going to grow wonderfully! It will be a lot of work but I am so excited!

Sad news. I’m not sure what happened but some of my broccoli buttoned and then flowered. I am thinking it’s cause I had them to close. So I pulled them out and I’ll see how the rest of my broccoli does. If all go bad then I will try some again in the fall. I do have some peas about ready. And my beans, watermelon, and potato seeds are all up. Just waiting on my corn seeds and pumpkin seeds to pop up.

Krista that stinks when crops fail but you can always try again. We got our corn in a couple of weeks ago and I'm so excited to be growing it for the first time. We have peas, lettuce and arugula. The carrots are coming along. This is the best time of the year.

Agreed Connie! I’m writing this all down in my garden journal so I don’t forget. Our corn has finally popped through! As well as my pumpkins. All my seeds are up. It’s super exciting. Your garden sounds like it’s doing great. I should be able to pick my first pea tonight! I’m excited to see how yummy it tastes. Between my garden and calf I have been spending a lot of time out side and it’s wonderful. The kids and I have just been enjoying some popsicles to help cool off!

Those are beautiful, Krista. But how can you keep from eating them? I always enjoyed picking and eating them especially the Sweet Peas.
