It is official! My garden has started. I ordered seeds from Bakers, three kinds of tomato plants and 2 kinds of milkweeds. I started them 1 week ago and all of them have sprouted! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. LOL I bought one of the little starter kits that had the peat pots in it and I followed all of the instructions and Now I have babies! So much fun! Kathy

Congratulations Kathy! Enjoy watching your babies grow. I find the plants I grow from seed are more special to them then the ones I buy at a garden center.

I am so excited for summer to get here. I started a ton of plants in my kitchen for my summer garden. I am hoping to make us more sustainable this year and get lots of veggies to can and freeze. I have not done that for many years. I told my kids every time I get bored (since we are still staying home a lot) I plant some more seeds. I have run out of room. My husband is talking about redoing our greenhouse (we havent had it in over 30 years!) Two old people here just waiting for summer. LOL

Just getting started with seed trays here in Northern Michigan. This year we have both grow lights above AND heat below the trays (made by husband using incandescent light ropes woven thru a wooden base he designed). Anxious to see if the heat below makes a difference! |

Good luck with the heating pad Sharon. I tried that for peppers and it didn't work. I think the pad made the soil too hot and cooked my poor seeds. I've always been successful in the past growing peppers from seeds without any heat but thought I would try it this year. Hopefully you will have better results than I did!

Oh Kathy, I hope your garden flourishes for you!! I'm still trying to perfect the knack of gardening myself... last year I had cross pollination issues with all my squash, more male blooms than females.... I was out there a few times a week with a q tip trying to cross pollinate. My hubs would laugh and say mama was out making babies again! Fingers crossed for better pollination this year!!

Kathy that's exciting! I just ordered from Bakers for the first time and I love the size of their seed packets. I'm getting ready to plant a lot more things!
