Please - no thing-a-ma-gigs. My Scraps more than consume the space I've got and I have no room for more. LOL! If I decide I have time and energy to make something I will join in. Thanks for the good wishes.

Oh my stars all you Happy Scrappers!! I just got my February/March issue of MaryJane's Farm. Did you get yours? If so, the answer is NO!, an emphatic NO! -- I had absolutely no idea and we were not noway nohow in cahoots on this. Say What??? If you haven't received your issue yet, when it does arrive -- DO Not Pass Go (but you CAN collect $200 if it's offered) -- Go directly to page 80. You'll be dazed, amazed, and excited all over again about the SCRAP HAPPY swap. AWESOME!!

I haven't gotten my magazine yet, but I'd love to join this swap. My scrap tote is quite full. This seems like a wonderful way to help empty it out!

58 years ago I did not have a scrap basket. I was newly married! I was 18 years young. But my husbands grandmother had a scrap box and she opened it to me and encouraged me to piece a quilt top by hand. She even provided me with some templates cut from a brown paper grocery bag. Over the years I pieced more squares, pressed them and added them to the collection. Finally I set them together. But we began our milking adventure...so the new quilt top got stored away. Years went by. Life got in the way of my sewing for pleasure.then one day my mother asked if I knew where it was? I got it out and cried because a mommy mouse had used one corner to make a nest for her family. I should not have put it out in the shed. Mother asked for extra fabric and off she went. More time elapsed but the next time I saw it...it was beautiful...repaired, washed and all quilted by my sweet mother. Two years ago I gave it to my son, pointing out the pieces of my clothing I had worn when he was a baby! It is a huge quilt and thankfully his wife loved it too.Now it is the bed spread for their king sized bed.
Now my scraps are abundant!

What a precious memory Marilyn. I just finished writing a "How We Met" story for a contest in our local newspaper. Was kind of a fun trip down memory lane. How about you Farmgirls? How did you and your DH meet. Might be fun to share here . . . Remember the TV series "The Days of our Lives" . . . well this could be "The Scraps of our Lives" . . . . LOL. Perhaps I have too much time on my hands these days.

How did you meet your husband Jean? We met on a blind date while I was in college, freshman year. I will never forget when he gave me a ring. Then as I entered our hall in the dorm, noisy laughter and silly girls were going down the hall to the showers, getting ready for bed, etc. I hoped to get into that room at the top of the stairs, and show my room mate the sparkly ring! I did not make it...someone screamed, " Look, Look Marilyn has a ring!" I was swarmed by a mass of flesh, all so excited. They were fast and soon I was in the shower, clothes, shoes and all. That cold shower was supposed to wake me up! But six weeks later we were married!

Oh how fun, Marilyn. I can just hear all the squeals of laughter and delight. . . as for me, well, you asked . . . LOL

How did we meet you ask? Well, we got bombed at Lake Tahoe! Wait a minute, it’s not what you’re thinking. We literally got bombed! Let me explain. It’s August 1980 at Harvey’s Hotel Casino when two clean-cut looking guys in business suits roll in a new computer to the business office early one morning. NOT! It’s a bomb! Ransom note follows and a command center is set up across the street at Harrah’s Tahoe where I work in the General Manager’s office. A very nice young man from the Electronics Department is sent to install a knee alarm on my desk – panic button if you will. I think he liked the look of my knees. And so, after the bomb was detonated a couple of days later because it couldn’t be moved, we started meeting on our coffee breaks, He was very gentlemanly and shy but finally got the courage to ask me out. When he walked into my apartment and saw the montage of artwork I had over my couch, I think it was instant love. You see we both had the exact same print of John Wayne.

Ah ha . . . it's good to pay attention to details sometimes . . . for instance, being somewhat of a Type A person, today I started at the beginning of this thread and read it all the way through again. And, guess what I found? Marilyn aka TexasGran edited her post yesterday to tell us the rest of the story. Oh my, I almost cried. How very precious it was. Be sure to go back and re-read the edited version.

You know, not only are we getting some wonderful posts here, I am getting some very special private emails too. One idea that's come up a couple of times now is the possibility of keeping this particular swap going for a while. Apparently there are lots of overflowing scrap baskets and totes out there and the creative juices are really flowing. What say you, Farmgirls? Would you like to keep this one going for a while -- perhaps every other month? Please let me know your thoughts . . . and keep those stories coming. After all Valentines Day is just around the corner and we want to know how you met the man in your life. Perhaps you can make "him" something special from your scrap basket -- maybe a book mark or a mug rug with his name embroidered on it or . . . . ????

This would be a good on-going swap. There used to be a monthly swap for people to just make something in whatever medium they wanted to send to someone. I'm not sure if it is still going on or not.

Jean, I have tons of scraps and would love to be in this swap! I think it would be great to do this every other month so you have time to do other swaps as well.

I met my husband on a blind date. We got married two years later. Tons of family problems, three teenagers (1 his & 2 mine from previous marriages), and a mid-life crisis led to a divorce. We never actually stopped seeing each other & remarried 2 yrs later. My husband insisted that we continue to use the date we were first married so this year will be our 40th anniversary. - I would like to add that since we married, divorced, and remarried, we have met almost ten couples who have done the same. That is just wild to me.

Linda, my husband and I had covid right after Thanksgiving. I had a mild case, Thank the Good Lord. My husband had two tick bites with bullseyes the day before Thanksgiving, then caught covid, overdid the exercise of cutting up a tree that had been cut down. Overdoing it and the tick bites caused his covid to be worse than mine, but neither of us had to go to the hospital. We are now completely over it and passed our quarantine time. Again, I thank the Good Lord for taking care of us. I am sending prayers your way and wishing you a quick recovery.

Welcome to Scrap Happy Joan. WOW! You two "survived" all those headaches and heartaches and have made it 40 years -- good for you!
So glad you've survived Covid too.

You can add me to this swap. I know I can make some little item by the 20th. I am still getting fagigued quickly, but can make a project in a short period of time.

Also, I, for one, need and want NO TUCKS. A smaller item, with no tucks, can mail for a lot less than adding tucks.

Good to hear that those of you who have been dealing with Covid are doing better! I stress so much over it! I don't leave the house at all. I teach from home because I have Lupus and R.A. and have been Diagnosed with a couple other Auto-immune Diseases as of the past couple years. My Dr. said Since I am at a High Risk of Covid he requested I be able to work from Home. My Husband was exposed by two of the guys he works with who tested positive (He works for a local Municipality in the Parks and Highway Dept) The CDC called him and told him he had to Quarantine because of his exposure at work. He has been sent to test twice and both tests have been negative but he is staying quarantined from me.

So here is our True Love Story... On January 18,2021 we will celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary! We ran away and eloped with the help of my Gramma and Grampa a few weeks after my 18th birthday. I think I have told a few of you how I was born on my Grandparents Anniversary - well they had run away to Niagara Falls and Eloped and when my hubby asked me to marry him and we told my Grandparents we were going to run away to Niagara Falls just like they did as soon as I turned 18. See My Hubby and I had been friends for years and then at the end of my sophomore year and his year Senior year we started dating. I was emancipated and living on my own from the time I was 16 so by the time I was 18 - I had my mind made up and was sure I was ready for marriage - My Future Mother In Law was just as Sure her Youngest Son was in no way going to marry the likes of ME!!! That is where my Gramma comes in hiding us away and helping us to organize everything. The Big Storm of 1992 was on my Mother in law's side and shut down the Thru-way and most Roads and we could not make the 5 Hr Drive to Niagara Falls... So My Gram called her friend who was a judge and he married us right in town! My Grandparents gave us $50 to get Dinner and my Gramma made my bouquet. I hadn't known My hubby had been paying $25 a week on a clearance wedding gown he had picked out for me! He showed up in a tuxedo (with tails) with my gown at My Gramma's and off to the Judge to get married!
It was Romantic and for our 1 year my grandparents sent us to Niagara Falls and again for our 10 year just a couple weeks before my Gramma passed away!
I married my best friend and someone that my Gramma said - "Niki, you picked a good one." which is the best compliment in the world coming from the most important person in my world. We have built a Wonderful life - Had two beautiful daughters - who both Eloped - but had us there so their dad could give them away and now have 3 wonderful Grandchildren.

It's a Wonderful Life!
