Sign up here by January 5. Partners posted January 6. Using the private email link, send me your selection choice from these photos along with your mailing address. Selection 1 is all gone
Selection 2 is all gone
I will send you one feed sack from the selection you chose. Please note all signups will now receive "surprise" feed sacks from Mary Jane's stash. You will then make a project of your choice from that feed sack to send to your partner the first week in February. Project can be sewn or crafted. Please don’t sign up if you don’t plan to follow through. There is nothing more disheartening than anticipating a delightful swap item that never comes. Tucks are optional. Some ideas are:
• Tote Bag
• Apron
• Pillow Cover
• Pot Holders
• Quilt Blocks
• Mini quilt
• Placemats
• Fabric bowls or Cozys
• Sewing Machine or Appliance Covers
• Many non-sewn craft ideas on Pinterest

I decided to do this swap to honor 2021, a year of new beginnings while still honoring old traditions. Our grandmothers and possibly their mothers might have been using feed sacks like these during the last pandemic 100 years ago. Please join me in a project that's a little different and new while remembering the old.

This is a wonderful project for 2021. Thank you, Jean, for hosting it. I have hosted numerous swaps and am thinking of what I might want to make with my fabric. Thank you, again.

My Mom tells stories of their clothing made from feedsack prints. The girls got dresses and the boys shirts. She said the feedsacks were very coveted once they were in prints and my Grandma would make the prettiest dresses for her and her 6 sisters. When my Grandma passed we found some remnants of feedsacks in an old trunk. Hugs.

Oh my stars . . . This was just posted last night, and we already have seven (incluiding moi). I am so thrilled with the response. Thank you to this morning's batch of new participants: Becky T, Gail, Dianna, and Ida Jane. Your feed sack selections are getting packed up to mail ASAP.

I loved your memory of your mom's feed sack stories, Gail. I bet there are a lot of interesting tales out there. Dig them out and ask Grandma what she remembers about the days of using Feed Sacks and share these precious memories here with all of us. They would be wonderful to hear.

Pinterest is a great source of project ideas as I mentioned in the original post, but do take a peek at https://singer-featherweight.com/ . Some great vintage patterns and ideas there.

Oh, I'm having so much fun with this I can hardly stand it. Thank you Farmgirls . . . .

Keep in mind,, one had to wash these sacks first, then iron them before cutting and stitching.. other wise the 100% cotton
would shrink up like crazy...

I'm thinking Clothespin Bag? or Apron? or ... so many possibilities.

Got you Jill. And, yes, I will "surprise" you. Part of my stash is not in the above posted pictures.
And just a note to all -- Selection 2 is all gone. Only Ida Jane missed out on that one. But I have something similar going to her. The response is amazing. I have 19 feed sacks in my stash and we have nine already signed up[ for the project. So if you're thinking about joining this swap, better decide quickly because once my stash is gone, I'll have to close the swap. And, it's first come, first served on selections or a surprise . . . tee hee . . .
Clothespin Bag -- now that's a clever idea for a feed sack Linda

Here’s a flour sack find from MaryJane’s Wild Bread book that still has the faded flour brand on one of its sides.
