A lot of us have gone to 'on-line' shopping... I know I have.. and I track my packages so I know when they are delivered.
I just want to share a bit of info about packages being "Lost"... Twice last week we got other peoples mail and a package in our P.O. Box.. and the numbers were far off from each other... Unfortunately we didn't discover this until we got home.. So the next day I returned to the P.O. and handed the clerk the misdirected mail.
Well yesterday, we popped in to the P.O. to mail out Christmas cards and to pick up some packages... Well we put the packages in the car and headed home. When we got home,, we started opening the boxes.. and discover items in one of the boxes, items that we hadn't ordered,, at that point I looked at the label and realized it should have gone to box 2756.. we are 2317.. So my plan was to drop it off at the P.O. on Friday, as we have more packages due in.... but then I got to thinking,, the poor recipient of that box would be upset if they got to the Post and the box was not there... so, I called Amazon, where the box came from, and explained the situation, and told them I would go to the P.O. the next day, but that maybe they could send an email to the rightful owner of that box and let them know what happen.. Amazon was wonderful... using the tracking # they pulled up the person's order and did a 're-ship' so that a new shipment was sent.. The lady on the phone then said to keep the box or give it away.. I told her, I had only opened the box, but not the items in the box.. and she re-affirmed,, to keep it, and not send it back,, that a new shipment was on it's way to the intended person.
So I opened the box again and checked out what was in it.. there were 4 of those 'storage cubes' and 3 felted bins and a Singer sewing machine service kit.. Well the bins and cubes will go to my grand kiddos for their toys or school stuff or what ever.. I will keep the little sewing service kit. I have to give 'Kudos' to Amazon,, that was a loss for them, and it wasn't their fault. And they didn't want me to go out of my way to return the box...
As for our little P.O, I am a bit concerned that they seem to be having an issue with 'mail sorting'.... I don't want to be a Grinch,, but I am thinking about sending an un-addressed letter to the supervisor at that branch, with a brief description of what occurred, and let them know their staff needs to pay attention when sorting the mail to people's boxes.. In the past year I have had 2 packages returned to the sender with a stamp saying the package was refused... umm,, never came to my door. not to mention, other issues. I know it's a busy time right now,, but, no excuse for not doing ones job....

We are having similar problems here with the PO, Grace. At least my Amazon packages (I've ordered 6 items, each coming separately, in the last 3 days) get delivered to my house. So far we've gotten all that have been ordered. I really like Amazon. A month ago we ordered a number of items from Amazon. Most we liked, but several did not work like we thought they would and we returned them. We have Amazon Prime, so postage to us and returns was free. That is good for us. I'm glad to hear that they took care of the package you got. That was over and above for Amazon.

Hey Linda,, We don't use our home mail box because it is out at the road and out of our view,, and mail for us country bumkins has a tendency to disappear.... We have had mail stolen from our box,, what a nightmare.. the Courts kept our mail as evidence in the trial... thank goodness the checks were still in the envelopes and we had court Docs to show our creditors that our mail had been stolen..
Yes, Amazon for sure was understanding and handled the situation very well.

Grace -- you are nothing short of miraculous for finding an Amazon phone number. Both DH and my son could never find one.

Our local PO has had a busy year. On top of extra mail due to people doing more online shopping during lockdowns, uncertainty from the head of the Postal Service, time constraints, the Brooksville post office has taken in Augusta's personnel when that building caught on fire. All this in a building that itself needs upkeep. We are a small county, but I can imagine all postal workers are under similar pressure. I think I'll run some cookies over to them as a thank you.

Someone on a local FB page has said our PO is 3 weeks behind on delivering. ??? I thought the USPO was supposed to deliver EVERYTHING EVERYDAY. What is this 3 weeks behind??? Boy, things are sure slipping, and it isn't all COVID.
I am glad our stuff is delivered to the house. So far everything has arrived as scheduled. I am waiting for 4 more ordered Amazon packages.
And my new BabyLock Serger (Christmas present) is going to the store so that should be fine, too.

The USPO Strikes - again! I sent some items to a farm girl in Florida from my local PO. They left here Dec 4 and were scheduled to deliver on the 7th; they arrived in a Florida distribution center on Dec 6, then on Dec 9th they arrived in Cincinnati, OH !!!!, and are now "supposedly" on there way back to Florida. Excuse me? On my map of the US, OH is nowhere near Florida. I have no idea what map the USPS is using.

Ladies---I did get an Amazon phone number back in the spring and I think I talked to somebody in Nigeria. We got in a fuss because I called him stupid----wanted me to mail him a check to some address in New York. So I said that is stupid and he said you are the stupid one and messed up my computer, He had showed me my order and everything---but was hacking me and put porn on there. We had to have it cleaned---what a pain, Life do get tedious. The USPS is messed up because they ripped out a lot of sorting machines to delay voting ballots. Our little PO is under attack because it is small and the BIG honcho in charge picks on our postmaster constantly over any little error. Lord help us is all I can say.

Linda, I have had that happen with Amazon. It will make it all the way to Jersey and go back to PA or somewhere before it comes back again. No wonder they are behind, They don't know where they are supposed to send it. I ordered something coming from Amazon that I got on one of their deals. It got lost and they refunded my money without asking if I wanted it replaced at that price. Not even a choice and I did not reorder at the regular price either. Things that make you wonder who is in charge?

Regarding my post above on the USPO - The item has been in Ohio since the 9th. Every day I get a text that says it is enroute to the next location - that's been 5 days. It only took only 3 days for the package to go incorrectly from Florida to Ohio. I hope it gets there soon.

The U.S. Postal Service, under its new director (politically appointed, with zero experience), has suffered massive staff and funding cuts, not to mention office closings, removal of important equipment and other things that have had a terrible impact on our overall mail service. Covid has played a role too, of course. This also affects Amazon and UPS because their contractual partnerships with USPS have been squeezed under new regulations.
Postal employees are doing the best they can under these awful circumstances. Sometime next year, there will be improvements as the USPS returns (we hope!) to normal, or better. Meanwhile, we can take a little time to offer postal and UPS employees some understanding and moral support. They aren't happy about any of this, either. Something as simple as a Farmgirl smile can go a long way.
I realize some of this post could be considered political and therefore off-limits. If so, please delete, and I apologize.

UPDATE on my Florida package getting sent to Ohio - As of yesterday (7 days after it arrived in Ohio) it arrived back in Florida at one distribution center, then on the 16 it went to another distribution center, then today it went to 2 more distribution centers in the city they should have gone to first. However, now, at 4:30 PM, the tracking says leaving for destination. I don't think packages get sent to the local PO that late in the day, so heaven only knows where it is going - maybe back to Ohio?
Another item I ordered, a Bonnie Hunter ruler to help make the current mystery quilt of hers I am working on now, was sent on the 15th and supposed to arrive to me in Texas on Saturday. HOWEVER, today I got notification that it arrived in a distribution center - and get this - TA DAAAAAAAAAAAAA - it is in San Diego, CA!!!!!! What is wrong with all of these sorting machines? Texas zip codes start with a 7 and California zip codes start with a 9. GRRRRRRRRRRR!! I may be finished with the quilt before the ruler arrives.
And I have 3 more outgoing packages that are MIA and 1 more incoming that is MIA. They don't seem to track at every stop as should be done because for days there is no new information.
I have a gift to send to my sister in California, but am not sending it until after Christmas.
So far my Amazon Prime shipments have arrived as they should, except for one that is due to arrive on Monday. If not, I will have to cut out a picture and give my grandson an IOU.

This package sending lately is a trial of one's patience! I too have had delays to various parts of the country and also receiving this package from Linda!! That poor thing has been traveling around the middle of the states to Florida only to leave again before it comes to me!! It is so crazy!! Thankfully, it is not critical for Christmas!!

LOL! Winnie! According to tracking it is SUPPOSED to be delivered today - only 13 days for a 3-day delivery package. LOL! And a sidetrip to OHIO!
ENJOY!
