Autumn Fires

In the other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The grey smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the fall!

Robert Louise Stevenson

My most favorite time of year! However, we receive only a nano touch of fall here where we are but how I DO SO look forward to that one tree sparsely scattered here & there, the cool fresh air and taking a wee trip north of us to see real colors!!

Beautiful poem Debbie, thank you for sharing!!

Sweet poem Debbie!
Happy Autumn Eve!!
It has cooled considerably here. Time for sweaters and cocoa and lovely pumpkin-y things!

We love our fall fires too. Right now we are on a fire restriction though, so no fall fires for us. Unless we use our gas fireplace inside! I am super excited for the first day of fall tomorrow and will hopefully be getting my decorations up later today.

That is how it is here in Coos Bay Krista. Our rental home has a gas fireplace which is a first for us. We have always had a wood stove.
But, I’ll be honest it is nice to just flip a switch and you have instant fire. But, I miss the smell of the wood stove.
Yes, the weather is cooler here too, partly cloudy with rain all week. Trying to figure out the best day to go to the beach as it has been almost 3 weeks since I’ve been. I am getting a bit cranky:~)
Have a Beautiful week my Farmgirl Sisters.

Love your porch. It's going to take you a long time to cook all those pumpkins when the time comes but just think of all those pies and other goodies.

Oh Judith don’t I wish that was my porch and all my pumpkins. No, it is a photo I got off Pinterest.

Yep,, looking forward to Autumn,,, the scent of autumn spice in the kitchen, the lovely autumn colors rich in browns, oranges and yellows... sitting out back looking at our sleeping hay field and enjoying a warm mug of hot cider or, my favorite, spiced wine...
No more waking up early to bet the heat and to water my garden.. now I can relax... read or just rock in my chair and lazily day dream...

To me, fall triggers the moving of the living room furniture away from the wood stove. It means that my rancher will start bringing in loads of firewood from the mountains. Hunting season is always a trigger for my domestic side. I start canning, dehydrating, and processing meat. I also do a frantic window washing in the fall. We live in a log home. They bugs just love to start making their nests in the windows. Time to get the shop vac out. A pumpkin spice candle will appear on my kitchen island. A wreath of bright oranges, delicious rusts and warm browns will show up on the front door. Autumn is my favorite time of year. I/m thankful to share that with you all. Happy Fall, Ya'll!
