WOW! I Love your small split rail fence, Judith. Not sure I'd use pieces quite so small, but maybe 1-1/2".

That's as small as I go. When my one inch basket starts overflowing I feel compelled to use them up. Hmmm -- does overflowing baskets and bins constitute UFOs? or is that cheating....

I have named my just completed Round Robin "How Prophetic" and here is why . . .
Many moons ago, 1998 to be exact, while living in the Nevada high desert, a small group of stitching girlfriends decided to make a Round Robin quilt. Pretty Patty Perfect had given each of us a fun fat quarter of pink/red paatchy looking fabric that she brought back from a trip to England, and we were to use that in our starter block no bigger than 15"square. Then our creation would start it's journey to each of the other four gals for "further treatment". Fast forward 20+ years -- I no longer live in the desert but in a lovely little red house located in a green hilly meadow and surrounded by the majestic trees of the Clearwater National Forest. . . . see now where Robin's name came from? Pretty Patty passed away and some of us moved and life just got in the way . . . you know how it tends to do that. So when Pandemic Pandemonia hit us a few months ago, I decided to work on my considerable stash of UFO's. This one cried for my attention needing quilting and binding . . . so now, at last, you know the rest of the story. Hopefully Pretty Patty Perfect is looking down from the great quilt retreat in the sky and is proud of how her little gift from the British Isles turned out.

Jean, That is a terrific but sad story. Sorry for the loss of your friend. I love the quilt! Round Robins are definitely fun. Thanks for sharing your story about your quilt.

Small squares are great to sew together as leaders and enders - Before and after strings of pieces so you don't waste thread. LOL!

Oh Jean, what a wonderful story and beautiful quilt. You know for sure Patty is looking down and smiling.
Got another project done.... hand carved cat. Grandma's hankies are in the dryer and am looking for the background fabric to start my next quilt. I am going to do the hankie butterfly quilt. I figure by the time I get all the hankies ironed and figure out how to fold them correctly I'll be able to get the background material I want LOL. Also working on some knitted dish cloths.

OH I wish I could sew like all you girls, but a straight stitch is all I got. Such pretty things you all make. I cut out a lot of things for my scrapbooking today.

Nancy, a straight stitch is all you need to do most things. Please post a photo of your scrapbooking. I tried it a couple of times but just couldn't get the hang of it.
Denise and Judith, thank you so much for the kind words. I do find carving relaxing. I am still just a beginner when it comes to carving but it is fun.

This is just one page of many of my scrap booking. I just get a theme for that page and get out the glue stick. I get pictures from magazines and old greeting cards, etc.
will try and do some sewing.

Wow Theresa, that carving is amazing! That is such a fun talent to have. How long does it take you to make one? I still haven’t done much crafting outside of my cross stitch badge. Been working a little on diamond painting but that’s it.

Linda, It is basswood, that is why I decided to stain it like a tortious shell.
Nancy, I love your page. I just can't seem to get the art of it. Yours is just beautiful.
Krista, It depends on what I am carving. A shawl pin can take me a couple of weeks to carve and a couple of weeks to put the finish on. Something larger, like the cat, can take me a month or more to carve then again a couple of weeks for the finish. The wood also makes a difference. The medicine bear I carved out of walnut (very hard wood). Although it is a simple shape it took me about 3 weeks to carve. 1 week to set in the inlay and then a couple of weeks for the finish.

Butterfly pin and Lizard pin out of mahogany

Well, I got the hankies washed and dried. In I went to press each one. Oh my goodness, what fond memories. 1st. My dad's handkerchiefs were the first thing I was giving to learn to iron. Couldn't have been more than 5 or 6. Then of course, these are my Grandmother's hankies. They are so sweet. I have about 50 of them so I was lucky enough to pick and choose which I am going to put in the quilt. I just know this quilt is going to be great to make. So many memories.

Handkerchiefs were my first ironing chore too. Then I graduated to pillowcases and aprons, then full skirts. Then Mom got an Ironrite and she had so much fun with that so I didn't have to iron for a while. Then I got to do pillowcases with the Ironrite, and so on. I was slightly afraid of it but I sure wish I had it now.
