Great job Vanessa, congrats on all the ribbons. I miss showing at the fair, our county only has a junior fair now.

Finally, off the needles and on the blocking board! Now on to the quilting. My sister gave me a quilt top that her husband's grandmother pieced (by hand). We are guessing in the 20s or 30s. My sweet husband sandwiched it for me and basted it and now I will hand quilt it.

Good going Vanessa. We're all so proud of you.

Theresa, your poncho is gorgemous. And about the quilt, can you take a photo? We may be able to help date it from the pattern and colors in it. Do you rent out your DH for sandwiching/basting assistance? What a treasure you have there.

Beautiful Theresa! I also have some great grandmother quilts to finish. Aren't helpful husbands nice? Mine helps me baste too.

I just finished making a flag book -- one of the projects from the 5-day Accordion Book challenge online class I recently took. The photo doesn't really capture it too well, but you get the idea. When you open it, 48 flags pop up, each with a creativity inspired message. It was a lot of work but fun to do. I do so much enjoy creating books when I'm not sewing.

That flag book really looks intricately complicated. It is an interesting project. Nice job.

I have enjoyed making simple pop-up and greeting cards before, and they were easy compared to that.

Well, hind sight is 20-20 on this one. I would definitely not recommend that someone new to flag books starting with a 48 flag book. But I do like my "Creative" jump start. It has a little creativity mantra on each side of each flag -- hence 96 jump starts. The book lies flat and then when you open it all the flags jump up. In reality it's a very easy process -- From your cover stock you fold an accordion leaving your two longer cover pieces. Then you just cut and paste all the little flags into the folds of the accordion. I spent yesterday making mini ones that end up just about 3" square and have only twelve 1" flags. I really like these a lot and they are very quick and easy to make.
But for today -- a little touch of reality -- laundry, dusting, garlic harvest to be braided, cleaning bathrooms, etc. But like Annie sings, "The sun will come out tomorrow . . . . Then I just have to decide do I sew or make books? I actually need to get back to my gnome project and get that finished up. And then there's the Fairy Godmother book, and the thirteen quilt UFO's, and the unfinished embroidered teacups, and, and, and . . . .

The Curse of the Creative...we are interested in so many things that we can't get to them all. What we need Is a Time Turner, like Hermione had.

That’s a neat book Jean. Looks like a lot of work. I love all the inspirational words inside.

Vanessa, I definitely need one of those. Oh the things I could accomplish.

A time Turner for sure to help with everything I want to try (and finish). And an Invisibility Cloak too, please, for when it's too hot to get dressed and I need to go to the store.

My MIL just gave me a bib that had all the holes ready for a crochet boarder. I decided to take a break from the flag pillow and start working on the bib. I think I'm going to make a square design going around. I can't believe this is my first crochet boarder around any bib or baby blanket!
