You know your a farm girl when,, your DH comes home with some old trough feeders for you to use as garden beds...

We came across these 2 last year..., Free!!! going to use the blue one for my Herbs and the black one for either beets or carrots..

(drilled holes, filled bottom layer with gravel,, amended and ready to go... soon as I find my Herb seeds or seedlings..
Then DH brought these home today.. also Free..
an old neighbor, no longer has livestock and wanted to clean up his property, called my DH and told him if I would like them for garden beds, to come get them!

Whoot Whoot... going to set them up,, after the next round of snow (due this week)... I have plenty of sources for manure,, now to wait for the local nursery to get their seedlings ready to sell..

I was surprised, I went online to a few seed companies,, who are not taking orders or are not taking orders until after the end of March, so that they can fill the current orders.
Wowzers! who would have thought...

Grace, I really like this idea. That little blue one would be a good mini garden for me until next year when we are ready for our garden. Look like you will be busy planting seeds if you can ever get some!

I have been working on simple surgical masks most of the day today, so I didn't get a chance to go back on line to check out other seed companies.. but I will tomorrow.

I have the best hubby,, he never much fusses with all the mischief I get him into! lol!

Wow nice raised bed gardens they will make. I pick up seeds at a local farm store, as soon as they come out. So all set in WI. once the snow goes. We still have ground covered in snow. My plants that I started are transplanted now. Happy Gardening.

What an excellent idea for repurposing the troughs into raised beds. I hope you get a bumper crop of whatever you plant in them!
