LoL! Those bathing suits and remember those flower caps! Hilarious! Better buy the chlorine resistant suits if you swim often. The chlorine ruins them if they aren't. I do pool Zumba and aerobics classes. Just love it. Zumba is my favorite. I was surprised this old chick could even do it! My first suit wasn't chlorine resistant and I knew it was time to get rid of it when the crotch began hanging down to my knees! That was a beautiful sight! LoL!

Well, these bring back memories!!! Sadly, what I think would be best for me now were the ones from the late 1800s-early 1900s that we saw in places like Atlantic city in old photos!! LOL!! I am in need of more coverage that even these suits shown can bring!!LOL!!!!!! I think the old term was "Swim dresses"? !! Wow, have I come a looooooong way from those bikini days of the late 1960s and early 1970s!

I had one like the one on the left; those straps dug into my shoulders. Now I would like the one on the left with the cover up about two feet longer.

You all are Hillarious! Can you imagine trying to swim! I wonder how many poor souls drowned trying to keep their honor! We've come a long way baby from covering it all up to letting it all hang out! Now I don't even want to look at it, let alone have everyone else look!

Oh my gosh Grace! The top left! That is my dream swimsuit! I wish they still made them. My body after 3 kids needs a swim suit more like that. Right now I have to wear a T-shirt and shorts to cover up what my swimsuit does not. Bikini days are long gone for me as well.

Grace, LOVE THEM ALL! I actually do not mind wearing a swimsuit since I started wearing vintage styled ones like those! I have found them at TJ Maxx and even bought one in a “teen” store my daughter loves because they were having a retro moment. There is also Esther WIlliams suits on the web with her name.
Love vintage suits. They are meant for curves!

Back around 1975 there was a pattern for one of those suits. I think it was Simplicity but not sure after all thee years. I made it for my sister for her birthday out of black fabric with little white polka dots.

Well, now that our Fitness & pool Center is closed down for the next 6 weeks,, I don't have to be in a huury to buy... or make a bathing suite... and go figure,, I noticed the Walmart store has theirs out now... lol!

Grace, I have one like the top left and I love it. Have had it 3 years now I think at it still looks bright and new even swimming in the chlorinated water. It's a solid light teal color.

They still make the one I am calling the top left, no swim coat thing on it. My daughter and I both got them. She bought red with white polka dots and I bought the teal/aqua color. I love it. I am very fair skinned so I don't go to the beach much in my suit. Irish girls either burny, burny or get camo'ed in the sand and no one sees us. LOL. I wear my sunscreen,capris and big brimmed hat to the beach. The swimsuit I save for the indoor pool.

Denise,, while in Walmart 2 weeks ago,, I spotted these sweet 'bathing suite cover ups" they looked like sweet lacy oversized jackets to wear over the bathing suit... 2 different lengths and reasonably priced.. soon as 'things' get back to normal,,, I will go check them out...
