I was just sitting here listening to some relaxing classical music and was wondering what music the rest of you enjoy. I find the classical to be relaxing but it drives my poor darlin nuts. LOL. I like a lot of different kinds of music but the last couple of years I have gravitated to classical.

I am very eclectic as far as music goes. My main loves are old folk and 40s. It's easier for me to say what music i don't like -- rap, headbanger, and pretty much anything after 1980.

I like vintage country through the 80s and Rock & Roll from the 1950s & 60s. Gospel. And a little jazz & blues.

I'm pretty eclectic too, but my first and most loved is classical. It was playing at home when I grew up. I went to concerts with my dad and have just always loved it. It's amazing how quickly housecleaning goes when Wagner is pouring from the speakers!

I am similar to Sara with the addition of soft rock of the 70's and Bluegrass.

The "40s Junction" channel on SiriusXM is the channel I listen to most, but I also love Bluegrass, SOME modern country, Sam Hunt (whatever genre he may be), 80s music (especially love ballads), Judaism-related music (performers such as Rick Recht), and I have been a fan of New Kids on the Block for 30+ years. ;)

I'm a country girl, through and through. Old and new, I love it all. I do enjoy Ella Fitzgerald and some jazz when I'm on a cooking or sewing spree.

I have always been a lover of the oldies rock and roll. I grew up listening to it and it has just stuck for me. My hubby likes the oldies country music. So we bounce back and forth between them. But currently are big hits are preschool songs lol! I can't tell you how many times a day my kids ask me to sing the abcs! lol but I wouldn't change it for the world.

Funny you should ask... I grew up on C&W, Hank Williams, Marty Robbins, Charlie Pride... etc..
But buy the time I hit my 40's I was tired of C&W,, and found myself listening more to Gospel and Classical.. then by my 50's I added Jazz... nower' days.. I tend to listen to Jazz and 1950's & 60's music while sewing..
DH still likes C&W and 1970's music... we clearly have different tastes in music,, and who ever drives gets to decide what station we listen to on the car radio..

I grew up listening to C&W. Like Grace said Hank Williams , Charlie Pride, etc. But I hit my teens in the 70's and enjoy some of that. Not the stuff like ac/dc or any of the hard rock I don't care for. I enjoy gospel but not too much of the contemporary also love some of the classical. We go to the symphony on occasion too.

Hi ladies. I am a lover of lots of kinds of music. I mostly like rock-n-roll. My favorite group since I was seven years old is the Rolling Stones. I have loved them since 1964---I was a weird child. I love music from the seventies---my teenage years. I also like country---but not the new country---it is bland and boring to me. I like gospel---especially black gospel. I love reggae and I love dance music---and yes I did go disco dancing in my college years---great fun. I also like Celtic music. I love Christmas music and listen to it throughout December. I can even find a few rap songs I like---not many though. I hate heavy metal---that is for people that can't hear music I think. Let's just say I can usually find a good song I like in just about any type of music.

I don't like the heavy metal. There has been a couple of rap songs that I like and I even like some opera. I think I get that from my grandpa. He would go listen to the opera once in a while. I am the only other person in my family that likes it. Sad. I have a nice record collection and enjoy listening to it. I have a lot of the old, old records. Some are even from the 40's. I don't know if I mentioned it before but I love Elvis. I have several of his records. Love that rich, smooth voice.

I too LOVE Elvis---his gospel is the best and I love his Christmas music. And I love his seventies songs when he crossed over to country. Kentucky Rain just blows me away every time I hear it. Elvis is the best for sure. I also love Rod Stewart and Tom Petty---Bob Seger too. I love the Charlie Rich song---Keep On Rollin With The Flow---kinda how I feel about life. It also reminds me of when my husbands father was taking me to apply for a marriage license and he told me not to marry his son. He said---"look what happened to me---I had nine kids." So I said---that's not going to happen to me. Anyway I knew that day that I would be poor for the rest of my life and I quit college and got married. But I have stayed married for 42 years. So I know I made the right choice. I am a happy holler dweller and enjoy the things I always wanted in life---land, a lot of animals and a nice creek and we produce a lot of our own food. I always had old hippie ideas---my freedom to do what I wanted to do each day meant more to me than money.

Barbara, Tom Petty is one of my favorites. But Journey and Tesla hold my heart! I have even seen Journey and Tesla in concert with my mom and dad. That was so much fun.

I enjoy classical and jazz, some blues and soul, and 60s - 80s rock. My favorite jazz artist is Keiko Matsui. Ever since I heard her song "Toward the Sunrise" I've been a fan and I'd like it played at my funeral.

Barbara, I loved reading about you and your husband. So romantic. I agree with you that money is not everything. I love living in the country and doing a lot of things for ourselves. I like to forage in the woods and pastures and make a lot of my own things. I guess I am a little hippie at heart too.

I love classical music. Violin is one of my favorite sounds along with the piano. My husband does not like to hear classical at all and he despises opera. I don't like a lot of opera but I do enjoy some.

I listen exclusively to Christian Music in my Car. At home I love Oldies, I love 80's Rock,, Some Country and Contemporary Christian Music!

Lori...I'm sorry to say that I cannot deal with Classical Music! Both my youngest son and I find that it is sad and depressing! Probably what your
Husband feels like too! I admire people who find it relaxing!

So interesting to know every ones music likes---Vanessa I will listen to your jazz song---I kinda like jazz---just not time to listen to it all. Plus I love to watch my murders on the ID channel---I really only listen to them while I am working in the kitchen---and I love to keep up on the news---so much to do and so little time. And then I need my quiet time to read and relax. Krista--- my big thrill was getting to see Bob Seger in concert. And I think I cried when I heard Tom Petty had died. Lori---my husband and I sure went through poor times but we didn't really care, We always had food and shelter and simple pleasures and we never had government assistance---his family still calls us the little hippies---LOL. And we only have this land and house because of what my mom left me---it wasn't a lot but we sure used it to the max. As for my love of Mick Jagger---he has been with me most of my life and I will feel a lose when he dies---but LOL---won't they do a nursing home tour first??? They roll with the flow for sure, My husband loved classical and soft rock when we married---so my love of disco and dancing surely did clash with him. The Tramps---a really hot group then---came to a small bar near us and he wouldn't take me. Anyway I have become quiet just like him---my true nature---but hey who isn't a little crazy a twenty. Anyway children---I truly love the Lord with all my heart and I have found the peace that goes beyond understanding---but I still love rock-n-roll And I'm rollin with the flow..

My husband loves classical ; he likes all of it. I like a lot of classical. There is happy classical and then there is the dreary stuff -- I like the happy.
Peggy Ann -- try listening to some of the happy stuff like Nutcracker Suite.
DH balances his classical listening with Grateful Dead :-)

Peggy, you are probably right about why my husband doesn't like classical music. I find it to be relaxing. We both love the old country though. I do agree with Judith that there is happy and dreary classical. I prefer the happy. Over the years I have become a little more mellow. Like Barbara, I just roll with the flow. LOL.

Judith... your husband has a very diverse pallet. I think I do too but it has it's limits! LOL One time a couple at Church was asked
to tell what kind of music they thought I listened to and they said, "Classical"... my husband and I both laughed. They said, "Well
what do you listen to?" My husband said, "Rock!" And they couldn't believe it. Not the typical answer for a Pastor's wife, I guess.
I do love the Nutcracker and Phantom of the Opera and those types of Classics and some Opera even.
But I loved Jimmy Hendrix, Janice Choplin, and The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pat Benetar and on and on.
My first husband was a Rock Musician and still is.

Lori...it is fun to hear what everyone likes! So, way to go coming up with that Question!!!

Love and Smiles,
Peggy

I started piano before I started school, and was trained classical. But I also played hymns in church and started learning to improvise. I like most styles of music, especially Christian, classical, Celtic, jazz, blues and easy listening. I do not care for Country Western and do NOT like heavy metal, rap, punk rock or what my daughter calls "angry music".

I pretty much like most music, or appreciate it, I guess. But 99% of the time, I am listening to Big Band and Swing from the 1940s. My favorite artists are Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Bing Crosby, but I like them all...Artie Shaw, Cab Calloway...

I also will sometimes listen to Queen, or Duran Duran, or A-Ha, stuff from my teens, but not often. Classic country is another fave - Hank Williams, Chrystal Gayle, and Reba, My mother dated Kenny Rogers in High school, LOL!

Because I have a teenager, I am privy to current music. Itís okay, I guess. I do love Imagine Dragons though!

Wow, such a cool diverse taste in music!!! I grew up with my mothers and fathers music 50's 60's both rocknroll and country. In my teens it was 70/80s rock and roll, until I fell in love with John Denver and other folk artists. During college, classical and guitar as that was one of the classes I was taking, then contemporary christian ever since 1984!! Once in a while I reminisce with satellite music. I do not like the stuff my 15 yr old listens too now or rap or headbanger. I need peace in my life, lol!!

Thanks for sharing likes and dislikes in music. I am such a music lover. I used to play accordion in high school as well as clarinet and flute. I don't play anything anymore although I have pulled out my accordion and am thinking of trying it out again.
