Has anyone worked with salt dough? I found a recipe for making it and thought about trying it out. Is it hard to work with?

Oh My Stars! I remember friends making ornaments with salt dough (back in the 1980's) but I never made them..
Let us know how it turns out.

I have only made some once to make footprints of my first son to give to the grandparents. I believe I did it wrong because they broke later on. I think it had to do with the size I made them. But I would love to try it again sometime.

I found a snowman that I want to try. I have never worked with salt dough and was curious. It looks cute in the picture. LOL

Lori, why don't you give it a try and let us know how it turns out? I would love to get your opinion on it! It could help me see where I went wrong.

Hopefully I will have some time Thursday to get some stuff out and start making some decorations. I found several other decorations using salt dough that I will want to try.

Lori, Sara and I used to do this quite often! She loved it! We created all kinds of pieces and painted them. She's 15 now and I still have a few we saved back when she was 8!!! Have fun!!

Oh! My mom made and sold ornaments made of salt dough in the late 80s/early 90s. She would get huge orders from Christmas tree farms and would have to make hundreds of dozens of ornaments. I remember helping her and when I was done, my fingers were SO dried out from all the salt. Good memories! I hope you have fun with it!

Dianna, what fun to work on crafts with someone else. It gives you someone to chat with.
Rachel, I bet your mom got real good at making those ornaments. LOL

Lori, Sara is in her teens now and not so readily inclined to share in any crafting event but sometimes when she has a friend over I can get them off their phones to 'art' with me and I do so love the time with them!!

That sounds so fun Diana. My grandkids are not so much into the crafting thing either. They seem to have their own things that they are interested in. Most of my grandchildren are boys but I sure do hope that the girls will be inclined to craft with grandma
