Melody the quilt is unique and beautiful. I have no idea on the pattern but if my memory serves me right I remember the white clock hanging on the wall and when you painted it.

It’s a wonderful quilt! I don’t know the history of the quilt block, but I’ve always known this particular block as the “X Block.” Not terribly creative, but it may be a place to start!

Are you looking to understand its construction or history?

It just looks like a diagonally split square -- a block like this can be set a number of different ways. I don't know if it has a specific pattern name.

At first glance it looks similar to the Cathedral Window pattern but I'm not sure. Will check my books for sure.

I checked and it's not the one I thought or a variation. I hope someone can tell what it is.

It looks to me like they made blocks from triangles. Then sashed them together with all different colors. Then they tied it at each intersection...making it gather just a bit. Now, is it made from denim, such as old jeans???

I think they took a square, like whatever size, say 8" and evenly draw 2 lines
Diagonally from a corner to the opposite corner, an inch from the corner, horizontal to each other, then cut it out to make three pattern pieces which consists of 2 triangles and a long pointed strip. sew the three pieces together to make the square. set the squares split rail style...then the next row of squares opposite which completes the colorful looking border. I like it, it's very colorful. Lucky you, nice win!

Congratulations, Melody. The "pattern" looks like a variation of the lattice pattern. But it could be just an original pattern using scraps. Too bad you don't know the name of the artist?
