Grace I ate Spam growing up and I still keep it in my pantry. Now I buy Spam singles - some for me - some for Annie. One single pkg will give her days of bite size treats.

Seven years ago when I moved to Paris my first supper in my new home was a cold spam sandwich and a glass of Shiraz. Still making memories with Spam. lol

I have never eaten Spam. I guess I am in the minority?

Sara,,, Spam & Shiraz, perfect match! lolol!
I am the product of a German mom and a dad raised in the South & Military...
So we would have Schnitzle one nite and Spam stew (with corn bread) the next nite! lol!

I too keep a can in the pantry,, along with green beans, corn and taters,, cuz ya just never know when ya don't feel like cooking!

Linda,, You have never had Spam??? Oh My Stars, you poor dear,, when I finally make it back to TX,,, I will make you a pot of Spam stew!!!

We also would have fried spam & eggs for dinner when the grocery budget was super tight....

and to my knowledge,, Spam is very popular in Hawaii...

I think I may have eaten it, but neither my sweetie or I remember me serving it.
I just picture a bunch of Vikings chanting "Spam spam spam spam, lovely spam, wonderful spam!"

I once read that Spam will keep for thirty years and that they just put an expiration on it so that they can keep selling it. Have you ever heard this and do you think it is true? Would make a good doomsday prepper food if so.

The 'story's I grew up with were...
#1: it was created for the military as a K-ration also known as C-ration, so it would keep tor a long time...as the soldiers were limited in foods out in the fields of combat.

#2: was ghat it was created around the time of war... so that no food 'by-products would go to waste... this was right along with Victory gardens and food ration cards.

I have never researched the truth behind Spam but it doesn't matter yo me cuz I still like it. Lol'
