Hi all:

Are there any farmgirls who live near Decorah, Iowa? I will be visiting Vesterheim Museum for two weeks in September to attend two folk art painting classes.

I'm flying into Rochester MN and will first be heading up to Cambridge MN to visit relatives and see the area around Ogilve MN where my great great grandfather settled after arriving from Sweden.

Then I'll be heading back down to Decorah for the rest of my stay. I found a cool place to stay on a farm just outside Decorah that has re-purposed their silo into a cowgirl themed guest room. How farmgirl fun is that?

I'm interested to hear recommendations on fun things to see and do in the SE Minnesota/NE Iowa/W Wisconsin area. I am particularly interested in art, history, culture, nature and hiking. I will have a couple days of free time on Sept 17-18 between classes to explore the area on day trips.

Perhaps if someone lives nearby we could even meet up.

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Enjoy Iowa. Many places to explore. The fall is beautiful in Iowa. McGregor by the Mississippi river is fun. Many Apple festivals that time of year. Amana colonies and Kalona further south by Iowa City are historic and interesting.

Farmgirl friends are fun.

I'm back from my awesome trip to Minnesota and Iowa! I met up with Marlene and her hubby on Sept 19th for a nice lunch in Prairie Du Chien and then we went antiquing in Marquette for a couple hours. It was raining but we had plenty of fun anyhow. Here's a picture of us L-R Marilyn and Marlene:

And here are some photos of the barn silo I stayed in which was really a fun experience too!

Cheers! ~ Marilyn
