Hay there.

On a cold day like today I'm putting a pot of chili in the crock pot. I have to decide if it's chicken chili or beef chili. It was 28 degrees this morning and rain is on its way. Today is my only day this week to work from home so I'm working off a to-do list that is a mile long. I have dogs to groom but can work on chores along the way.

What is your favorite crock pot dish? Do you make extra to freeze? What's your best containers for freezing leftovers?

Hugs and prayers, Daizy #1093

I don't have a favorite crock-pot dish. Yesterday I cooked a large pork steak with vegetables, white wine, home canned hambone broth, and my curry mix. Turned out really good.

I use pint freezer plastic containers or freezer zip-lock bags. I only freeze leftovers.

Hay there, Mz Sara,

Your meal sounds delicious! How is the ham bone broth made and canned? Is it in jars or frozen?

My favorite crock pot dish is so easy and yummy. I put boneless chicken breasts and two bottles of bbq sauce with just a little water to thin just a bit. I let it cook all day. I then shred up the chicken and serve it on chibatta buns. Oh now I am hungry for it today.

My sister gave me a hambone and I put it in crockpot with onion, celery, carrot, and covered with spring water and cooked for 18 hours. Strained it through Viva towel and put in fridge over night. Next morning skimmed off the fat and pressured canned in pint jars.

Viva towels are strong enough to use and cheaper than cheesecloth.

I use crockpot to cook all the broths I pressure can - chicken - beef - veg- mushroom.

Jaime I came across the Viva towel idea one day when I didn't have cheesecloth but had already cooked the broth and it was ready to strain. If you use another paper towel try putting hot water through it and see how it works. Other paper towels may work just as good.

I also use Viva towels to make coffee. I put double layer of towels in strainer over a 4 cup measuring cup - add coffee - and pour 4 cups boiling water over it. I only have coffee once in a great while so it works for me.

My favorite crockpot recipe is Taco Soup. I always end up with extras that we freeze for later, but that's the only one. Otherwise I am making freezer meals that go into the crockpot.
