Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a new project I recently completed. It’s a cook book for toy ovens: “Lil Chefs’ Delicious Recipes for Your Toy Oven’. It’s available on Amazon, and a Spiral Bound version through my website. The cookbook has 40 recipes and includes breakfasts, ‘mini meals’, desserts and frostings. Each recipe was made with a vintage toy oven. Color photos with every recipe. The book is categorized, making finding your favorites easier. http://www.vintage-toy-ovens.com/

I’ve become a little obsessed with vintage ovens and easy bake ovens. I have quite the collection already with plans to add more. One of my favorite stoves is a 1927 large metal oven, and it’s amazing. My new website has the Book, My Oven Collection, Toy Ovens For Sale, and Resources for Finding Anything you could have ever wanted relating to toy ovens. A sneak peak at a few of my ovens...

2002 Queasy Bake Oven Cookerator

2002 Real Meal Easy Bake Oven

1973 Kenner Easy Bake Oven

I hope you visit my new website and spread the word to anyone who loves toy ovens too. If anyone has any toy ovens that the't like to sell/barter for, let me know. www.vintage-toy-ovens.com -home of the Lil' Chefs Cookbook: http://vintage-toy-ovens.com/lil-chefs-cookbook

Connie, your book sounds wonderful. I went right to your website and purchased a copy for my grandgirls who have an Easy Bake. Oh my, your Kingston Model 408 is fabulous! I'll send some pics once they get to baking some of your recipes.

Hi Mary Jane! I've received your order, and thank you! Yes, the Kingston stove is awesome. I was able to find some vintage miniature baking pans for it which I'm excited about. I hope your grandgirls enjoy the book, and I welcome their feedback. I can't wait to see pictures! You've made my day!

Connie -

What a neat book. How did you ever decide to write a cookbook for child ovens? You have filled a niche that people had never even thought of. Did each oven come with a few recipes to bake, or did you have to buy the mixes especially sized for the included pans? I never had one of the Easy Bake or any other child's oven growing up. I guess I really was missing out. They sound like a lot of fun. Good luck with your book.

Hi Linda,

I had this book in my project list for a while now. I love everything vintage and I've always had an interest in toy ovens, even though i never cooked with one as a child.

As far as the recipes, none of them were made with pre-made mixes, they are all real recipes scaled down for toy ovens :) I've seen a few Easy Bake oven books that are aimed mostly at desserts, and I wanted to make a book aimed more at 'real foods', and without the need for buying mixes.

Linda, you don't have to miss out any longer :) It's also great for us kids at heart ")

Connie, this is so amazing and such a great idea. I bet there are many girls out there who would love this book. I had an Easy Bake Oven that's similar to your 1992 Kenner Easy Bake Oven. Sure brings back a ton of memories! Now I need to call my mom and see if she remembers which Easy Bake Oven I had. Love your collection.

Hi Connie - I've written a tool to organize and record your complete personal medical and dental history birth through life. I've gone with a small independent publisher and expect it to be published this summer. I'm also in the process of writing a book about quality of life through the eyes of a nurse (I'm a retired APRN.) Thanks for asking. Are you working on a second book? Writing can be addicting!!!! :-) Anne

Anne I've actually written many to date, and with about 4 others already started, which I work on from time to time. I'm already looking to do a 2nd edition of the toy oven book, with about 40 more recipes to add, but I don't expect to publish that for well over a year. There are some things I'd like to revise in the first edition. Learn as you go.

I'm a nurses aide. I was in the health field for many years. My intention was to become a nurse, but circumstances at the time didn't permit it. After many years of caring for people, I became emotionally drained, especially after losing a loved one to cancer. That's when I left the field, and returned to school to study horticulture well over 20 years ago (nature/plants has been my first love since I was a little girl). As far as writing, I've been doing that since I was 14, and finally published poetry books, and other things, and now the toy oven book, which I had fun making. I'm always writing. I recently pulled the poetry books because no one is buying them. I'll likely list them again, but I am also working on a 4th volume which will incorporate my favorites and also include essays. Here are my books: https://www.amazon.com/Connie-McCaffery/e/B01IRQND8O#

I'd love to see your books when they come out. Keep me posted :)

Connie - Sorry it took me so long to respond. I lost this topic - not so good at navigating the farm yet. I love that you were a nurse's aide - they work so hard and are so valuable in the medical field. I went to your web site - WOW!!! You sure are accomplished!!!! I'll let you know when my books come out - thanks for your interest. :-) Anne
