Hey everyone! I hope y'all had a great holiday season and that the snow and cold aren't biting down too hard on your towns.

I have a question I am hoping you can help me with. I live in the UP. I am, for better or for worse, a yooper to my core. I love it up here and have lived here most of my life! But, I am getting a little tired of the cold, brutal, loooooong winters. And, as much as going down to the Lower Peninsula seems a little strange and foreign to me, I gotta admit that I think that may be the place for myself and my daughter.

So, here is my question: For those of you under the bridge- where are some pretty good places for homesteading or hobby farming. I would like to be in more of the Northern Lower Penisula area (I gotta have my trees, ya know ;) ) and I am also looking for an area that is close to small towns and smaller cities. Heck, even a small town that would allow for me to till up my back yard and have some chickens in great!

Any ideas, dear sisters?

THanks!
