I want to get back to my crocheting in 2018. I also want to use up my stash!! So I thought maybe some of you would want to do the same. Or maybe you want to learn to crochet or learn new techniques. Please join us!!

Join in anytime. The "rules" of the challenge are very loose. I will put some links to the projects I'm working on; if you need some ideas and inspiration feel free to join me in one or more of these (I will post free patterns) or choose your own.

I am purposely choosing simple patterns that use one skein or less of yarn. This is so that I can finish them up in the month and use up much of my yarn stash where I only have one or part of a skein. I encourage you to choose a one skein project to do during the month if not one of mine but feel free to show us bigger projects you are working on as well.

Each month I will post a new thread with a new set of inspiration projects. Like I said feel free to choose one or more of those or choose something else you would like to work on. Post what you will be working on at the beginning of the month, perhaps someone else would like to join you! Then post pictures along the way and of the finished project.

Feel free to follow me on Ravelry here: https://www.ravelry.com/people/sobyn
And I created a folder to store all of my MJF challenge projects here: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/sobyn?set=mjf-2018-crochet-challenge&view=thumbnail

January Inspiration and Ideas:

1 Skein: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cable-ear-warmer-2
Granny Square: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/traditional-granny-square-3
Thread Crochet: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mount-silex-snowflake
Fun challenge: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/box-of-chocolates-3
Temperature Scarf My daughter is going to make a temperature scarf throughout the year. She will be using an H hook and single crochets but no pattern.

If you have ideas you would like to share for inspiration projects one month (one or multiple projects) send me a message and let me know.

Okay Sabina, I will do #1 the Granny Square, easy enough for me to finish this month I believe. I will ease in slow and easy then next month try more of a challenge project.
Wanted to share with you my Beautiful Granny Square Shawl that my Farmsister Marcy made for me last November I believe for our RAOK. She knew I was sick and hoped it would make me feel better and keep me warm, and it does!
So, I will see if I can make something as pretty with one skein of yarn.
Thank you Sweet Sabina for hosting this challenge!

Hugs,
Deb

I certainly want to join in on this. Unfortunately, I have many projects which I have promised to make for others. UFOs don't cha know. I may just make a granny square to fill in the throw I am making from all the cotton dish cloths I have gotten from swaps. I love crochet and am willing to give advice for working something tricky or confusing.

I will start the granny square as soon as my "The Big Book of Granny Squares: 365 patterns" arrives. LOL! I need to know how large the squares in the book are before I start. Until then, I will try to fiinish a crocheted Swiffer coverr using some of my lefftover cotton yarns.

Yay Deb that is awesome!! I still have to go dig through my yarn stash!

I am making my granny squares 8" I think. I did some digging and that seems to be a popular size, I'll just add extra rows if necessary to get the size I want.

I have 2 granny square afghans my mother made - I will take pictures and post them. One is traditional grannies in various colors with beige edges and the other is different with a flower in each square.

Traditional grannies - over the back of my couch.

I like the ideas you shared especially the ear warmer, but I think what I'm going to try this month is a bun beanie. I may change my mind and make a pair of the crochet shoe/slippers my mom asked me to make her. I'll look at what I have tonight and make my decision and let you all know tomorrow. I'm excited to see what everyone makes! This will be such a fun challenge! Thanks Sabrina.

I've decided to do the crocheted ear warmer. I have a crocheted tablecloth that is on my UFO list to FINISH this year so I will keep working on that. I would LOVE to do a granny square project and have been FIGHTING the temptation to start another long term project! haha So I think I will stick with the squares on my tablecloth for now.
My little grandsons are Star Wars fans and asked if I would make them the whole set of SW characters in amigurumi so I'm also going to try and get a couple of them done a month. I think I have patterns for a couple dozen. I have one started and it is so tiny! We'll see how they go!

Here's an easy Boot Cuffs pattern

and a cowl pattern

Both look pretty easy.

I haven't had a chance yet to get started on my crochet. I have been busy with other projects this last week. Hopefully I get some time this week.
