Let's get those UFOs off our sewing tables, sofas, kitchen tables and out of the closets.

Let's get a fresh start on 2018 and get some more UFO's finished.
The first step towards fixing a problem is admitting you have one. So here I go: I have containers full of started, partly finished, almost finished and planned projects. Many of them are in a storage locker that costs $65 per month. I know I am not the only one!

So here we go. In 2018, I AM for sure this time going to get a handle on my UFO's by acknowledging their existence, organizing them, finishing some of them and hopefully won't add to the list of UFO's. I wish us all luck. I know I will need the help and support of all you fine ladies in this daunting project.

So who is with me!

I am in. I will confess that I did not get as much (or anything) done as I wanted because of the two moves. Hopefully, this year will be better. I will post my list when I return home from Florida in a few days.

Same here, although I am not a quilter or into sewing, I cross stitch. I have an embarrassing amount of UFO's. My problem is I get bored really easily on a project and get super excited to start new ones. I am a serial starter! LOL

Welcome Jennifer. I suggest starting with the piece that is closest to being finished so that you will have easier and quicker success. At that time, moving on and finishing another should become easier. I have tried to force myself not to start anything else until I finish something and it just doesn't work. I have some embarrassingly old UFOs.

LOL!! I love that. . . "Serial Starter"!!! Seriously, we all belong to that title don't we?? Giggle!!

Okay, I am in. I have already unearthed a stack. . . yes a stack of UFO's to finish up. They are sitting next to my chair to be worked on each evening while I relax before bed. They range from Rug Hooking a Door Stop to a crocheted blanket and lots of embroidery kits too. Then there are the other UFO's residing in my craft studio, those are being sorted and prepared for finishing too. WHEW!! I had better get busy, there is a lot here to get done!!

Yeah Shannon! I'm glad you're here with us! What did you think of that "temperature afghan " that was on Facebook? Oops, that would be a NEW project, not a UFO! Haha

I don't know if it counts but I am starting the year by thinning out my fabric and rubber stamp collections. I have several things posted already but will be adding to it through the weekend. If anyone is interested, check out my etsy site.

Cleaning up, thinning out and organizing (especially if it has been a while and the place is out of control) IS a UFO. Try to post before and after pictures. I also consider fix up projects around the house and yard to be UFOs.

Jana, I've been doing that for the past couple of days...cleaning out file folders in my sewing room, going through quilt and knitting books...being pretty ruthless and honest about what I have. You can decide if you still like a project or if your tastes have changed. I like to think that when I donate something that there is someone out there who is looking for "just that thing" and it will bless their day. I also looked through several machine quilting books to get some new ideas for finishing a few of my quilts that are ready to quilt. New year, new ideas and a clean and organized sewing room to work in!

I am soooo in...

I have so many UFO's left from last year... why am I not surprised?? lol!

Hopefully after the dust settles and I get all my stuff un-boxed from the move & reno, I will find those UFO's.. and even more so.. I hope I don't start up any new UFO's in 2018!

Debbie...I decided to thin down/scale back, mainly because I have too much stuff but also planning ahead to a future move up north. After 40 years in the same place, I am surprised of the places I have stored things in. My first goal is to see if I can sell some of the stuff, if not I will start donating. Any suggestions of places to donate fabric?

Welcome Grace! This thread would be nothing without your presence. Remember that setting up your craft space IS a UFO by now. <giggle>

I would look around for a Linus Project. They make blankets for kids in need.

Thank you for the information Marie, I just looked up the local Linus Project group and sent off an email asking if they are looking for fabric donation.

Jana... chek with your local hospitals as well to (VA unit and pediatrics) to see if there are any clubs/groups that make lap quilts and donat to the hospital.. The group I belonged to, back in CA., was called "Covers of Love"... and some of the girls quilted and some knitted/crochet lap blankets...
Or check with a VA or senior shut-in facility.. maybe the can give you the name9s0 of groups that do likewise.

Jana... just a lil fyi,,, Spokane really is lovely in the spring to Fall... just sayin'...

lol I have lots too. January 1st, I pulled out a project I started to see if it even fit my talents. It did not, so I moved onto the next project. It did not fit, so I moved onto # 3. It's hard, but hopefully we will all get them done.
