Well Joanna,

I got side tracked and I am beginning in my kitchen! Lol! That is where I spend lots of time and I have too.much.stuff !!! It is refreshing to walk into a clean organized kitchen when it is time to cook!! I am a kitchen gadget person. Always like to use different things, thus, too much stuff, plus I only have one son left at home who will graduate this year so empty nest doesn't need a whole lot of this 'stuff' anymore!! Lol!

Ok I am joining in on this challenge. Guess you could say I already started before seeing this thread. After taking down Christmas decorations I decided to start deep cleaning, I have cleaned out my Hoosier cabinet, the office file cabinet, our bedroom closet, and my junk box. My bedroom now has a corner stacked with stuff for a yard sale with more to come. Since this has inspired me to get back at it next is the office itself. I will keep you posted. Hugs Karla

Everyone is so busy getting things done. Way to go Farmgirls!

We finished cleaning out our family room and put in carpet this weekend! I am so excited! The boys were so excited they were running laps! It finally looks like a room instead of a concrete storage area. We still need to put up the blinds, but now we are ready to move onto the basement bedroom/ craft room.

I got my kitchen cabinet reset and organized. I had lowered the bottom shelf. In that smaller space I put all my spices. In the spot in which I had the spices, I placed my baking supplies. Next will be the cupboard in the pantry.

Hi Deb,
So happy you are starting with your kitchen. It's hard when the flock leaves the nest. . . we discover some things we simply don't need for now. Maybe again later, but not now. Hope you keep us posted on your progress!

I want to join the part where we organize. I don't want to throw my stuff out. I love things and do get rid of items, but then always regret it. So I have a new tactic.....organize. I am bravely entering my craft room here shortly and may never be seen again. I have to get a handle on it so I can find things. I have shelving, totes, drawers, etc. Just need to get it done. I also have a work table down there I have to unearth. Wish me luck.......

I have not posted in a few days. I have been busy cleaning up everywhere! It's rather contagious. . . giggle. . . rather catch the "organizing and cleaning bug" instead of a cold or the flu!

So, what have I accomplished in the last 7 days?? I HAD (yay!) several boxes filled with an assortment of costume jewelry and buttons. Took three days to separate out the jewelry from the buttons. Glad that is done. Consolidated the several boxes into two, one for the costume jewelry and the other for all those wonderful buttons. Next comes the task of further organizing these items by packaging like items together. Buttons by color, jewelry by type.

Please share what you have been up to as well. Even if all you did was make a list to get going with!!

Well, I have been reading this thread and have decided to jump in here.
I started purging after my dad passed away and then we did some remodel so I actually have one room, the library, finished. I feel like I have been doing this for years and maybe I have but things seem to creep in. Now that we are working on the house I will definitely be downsizing as I go. I am an organizer by nature and it drives my family nuts but I need tolearn to downsize instead of just trying organize it all. Anyway, I have pictures in my head and if I can just get those to becaome reality I think I can do this.

Sure thing Joanna.
Not home at present and why is it when you are away from home you can think of a thousand things you should be doing there?

Joanna, that is awesome! I bet it feels great to have that all organized!

Denise, glad to have you join. It's so wonderful having others help keep you on track.

This last little bit I have been working on some UFOs. So far I have finished 6. They were my quick finish ups and I can now put them where they belong instead of taking up space in the craft room. Not sure what I plan to work on next. I need to go back to my list and see what's more important.

This morning I got around to cleaning out my cookbook/recipe/coupon drawer. It feels nice to have that drawer organized and useable again.

Thanks Joanna. My husband is off of work for the next 4 days so I made a list of things I'd like for us to do. Fingers crossed we can check them all off! I can't believe January is almost over already.

I finished organizing the tall cabinet in the kitchen. I will post before and after pictures when I receive delivery of my camera cable. I am now working on organizing the pantry cupboard and kitchen counter.

We finished cleaning out and organizing both of the our boys closets over the weekend. Much of it needed to just be organized, but we did throw away a few things as well as found new homes for some other things. We also boxed up all the clothes that are too small for them now. Making some progress.
